Not Alone

Simple tears throughout the years
seem like a sprinkle of rain...
Once you suffer a loss and pay the ultimate cost,
the sprinkle becomes a downpour of pain.
The water falls as you recall
every memory ever had from within...
Painstakingly loud, you scream at the clouds, "Please stop!"
For the pain burns your skin.
Suddenly alone, fearing the unknown,
a life being sung a cappella...
Inside your head, the voice of the dead...
"Remember you have your umbrella."
Listen to that voice and turn down the other noise
for the truth is not everything is seeing.
Take a deep breathe, there is no such thing as death...
There is only a mere change of being.

Little Girl

Little girl
With her visions and prayers...
Suffering in silence from endless nightmares.
A broken family
So much responsibility...
Hurting deep inside so other's can't see.
Giant, gentle eyes
Penetrate the soul
The little girl sees more than anyone knows.
Empathic virtues
Create bountiful waves
Breaking these chains the pitiful enslaves
Wide open heart
Locked up and jailed pride
She's able to let go of her anger inside.
Unable to stay
Trapped in time
She knew to go forward, she had to stop 'rewind'
Frozen for a moment
The ice melts away
The sun warms her heart in a motherly way.
Infinite excuses
Become lessons learned
Gratitude is given, and so it is earned
Innocent little girl,
All hope invested in Heaven
Learned the secret of her life before she was 7
Her lesson was hard
Fighting darkness with a match
Finding the spark that ignites with nothing to scratch
But through all the bad
She searched for the good
And finally she found it upon where she stood
So listen to me close
And take this seriously
I know for a fact this is fact...because that little girl... was me.

At Last

You had your side of the road,
I had mine.

You walked with friends,
I walked alone.

Occasionally you all threw stones across the road, aiming them my way.
I'd do my best to dodge them.

Occasionally, you'd yell ugly mean things across it at me.
I'd put in my headphones.

You'd pass several strangers, telling them ugly things about me that weren't true...
just because I walked alone, differently than you.

Eventually, the road ended and we were left standing face to face.
Up close, you actually look human that I almost forget... almost...

but I remember the days when the road ran between us.
I still carry the scars from your sharp stones.
And just because this road ended,
doesn't mean the pain did.
My scars from the sharp stones you threw didn't go away with the road.

Just because you think you've learned,
doesn't mean you won't have karma to pay.

So while you stand there and stare,
 frozen in regret,
pretending you were never the sidewalk bully,
waiting for them to pave a new way for you,

I'm moving forward...
barefoot in the grass...
at last.

Road Trip

...Just because the road got a little bumpy,
That didn't mean I was going to pull over,
                 get out,
and sit on the side of the road and give up.
                                            I kept going.
And at the end of the road, there was a dead end sign...
                 but did that stop me?
                           No.
I parked the car,
     got out,
and continued on foot.
Eventually I came to the brink of a huge mountain
and looked up
and thought it was impossible to climb.
           But did that stop me?
                       No.
I tried anyway and started climbing.
Once I got to the top,
I turned around and looked over the mountain
and I could see the smooth road
     that turned into bumpy gravel
that came to a dead end
that came to the bottom of this mountain...
everything that has tried to stop me.
And suddenly, I realized
that I now stood higher...
       above it all...
and now look how little it looks...

Don'T Have To Be Told

They told me I could move mountains...
But I couldn't even get them to budge.
They told me I could have my cookie...
But I couldn't even have it in fudge.
They told me I could be who I want,
But people still don't call me Bill Gates.
They told me anything is possible,
But I still can't grow money, so that is up for debate.
They told me to shoot for the moon,
but i still miss it every time!
They told me to love EVERYONE,
but they didn't tell me that it is a crime.
They told me school would make me smarter,
but more often people still treat me like a dunce.
They told me college would make me richer,
I went... and already had to file bankruptcy once.

The lesson here is not so bad
I promise where there's bad there is hope
With all the yeses I thought I'd get,
Most often I was slapped with a "nope"
But the moral of the story
Is that life can be misunderstood
You shouldn't always do what your told,
Instead, just do what you know you should.
And if you don't get what you thought that you'd get,
You must be looking at it all wrong.
Everything happens for a reason,
But I don't have to tell you...
                                          you've known all along.

My Own Religion Znot Meant To Offend, Written To a Family Member a Long Time Agoz

In this world, we claim to know but we only teach what others show. For what we've learned has been taught by man so how could we possibly know the bigger plan? They give us a book, claim that it's old, claim that it's words were written in gold. So it must be true in every way, simply because that's what other men say. See, I'm quite the rebel but I have a cause, my mission is to put the lies on pause. Play the truth and witness revelation, without giving in to lies and temptation. I take what I've learned from my youth and the principle that every lie is built on the truth for knowledge is power so I learn what I can in order to finally tell the truth to all man. We can fight all day, but what does it show? In the end one side wins, but at what price? No one knows. If you are alive, you don't know what comes next, and if you are dead, it's not like you can tell us in text. Instead, we shut it out, so there's no fear of not knowing. And most of us are happy with not knowing why we're still going. However, I never was one to stay in line and follow suit... I feel like to not question is to live life in mute. Nothing is right and nothing is wrong, fact is only physical, spiritual goes beyond. Based upon good should be every decision because that's the one common denominator in every religion. Contrast and compare and be willing to look beyond what you've been told from the words of a book. God is much more than words written on a page, don't trap him with his creation, out of fearful, naïve rage! If you love Him enough then find Him for yourself, you don't need another man to give it to you off a shelf. But this is just me, I'm more individually prone... I practice my gift of free will... but hey... to each his own.

Never Again

Painful words thrown like ninja stars...
To leave more scars...
Every intention of hitting my heart so the next beat won't start.
I won't fall apart. Not this time.
Go ahead and try.
Hit rewind to remind you the truth of your lie... the hello of our goodbye.
See for yourself where it went wrong,
How you were the criminal,
The murderer all along.
Twist my mind,
Convince me I'm ill,
Tell me to take even more numbing pills.
So you can control me, like your little obedient robot
And make me believe that you're all I got.
Maybe you're right,
That's a possibility,
but then again I'm happy being the only one who loves me.
Tear me down,
I'll rebuild.
Block the road and I'll run through the field.
Turn off the lights,
And I'll light a flame...
I'll burn the evil firewood that you've piled on my name.
I'm not giving in,
Never again,
I won't let you back in to drown in your sin.
This door is closed tight,
Too late to make it right,
It's dead bolted and chained because I'm done fighting this fight.
So good day... and good night.
I'll be alright.

We See the Same Stars

So much to say that the words just evade me
So many thoughts that can lift or degrade me.
All of this trauma is the creator that made me
I'm fighting harder and harder every day.

I find myself getting lost on my path to my truth
I try to look forward though I grieve my own youth
They say looking back is not the way to self soothe
But my comfort is the result of my way.

Sometimes I divert, just for a little break
From this path full of obstacles that lies in my wake
Just sit in the darkness and forget what's at stake
Being alone is what revives and restores me

I never expected what I was expected to expect
My tendency is naturally to rebel or reject
It's not right or wrong or even mild disrespect
The truth is the truth whether known or unknown

I am what I am. It is what it is.
There is so much to know to even understand this.
Acceptance is one surefire way to find bliss
But I have to figure it out on my own

I am what I am. You are what you are.
But if we look up we see all the same stars.
Each one unique to itself and galaxy
Painting one sky for all of us to see

In the Middle of the Forest

In the middle of the forest,
lies the heart of the land,
it fills up the cup of the whole hearted man.
Humble by nature,
inside and out,
the trees always whisper for they know not to shout.
Secrets of reality
grows in it's depths...
and if you water the truth it will grow new concepts.
From it we'll rise,
to it we'll fall,
in the middle of the forest is the light to guide us all.

Wanderer

I sit here and ponder how much longer i can wander...
but then I realize its a blessing in disguise.
I look to the skies with my heart
(not my eyes)
and theres a part of me that sees more than anyone believes.
The wanderer wastes no time searching for one thing...
the wanderer is a witness to ALL the beauty that life brings.
