Annette Keller Poem
The ever present sound of a
diesel
Going through its gears
Is the steady beat and constant
rhythm
He’s known for many a year
And it’s the lullaby that late at
night
His mind still longs to hear
He still can see those highways
With his inner eye
He can’t forget the visions
Of those unpolluted skies
He still can feel the wind
And hear its tender sighs
Those memories stay inside
and linger
And will until he dies
They’re part of what he’s made
of
They’re forged into his soul
They come from years of
truckin’
And they’re what have made
him whole

Annette Keller Poem
I have been privileged,
To hold in my life,
The title that’s known
As a truck driver’s wife.
Now, women all know
Being married is rough.
But, marry a trucker,
And then let’s talk tough!
The miles that they run,
And, the job that they do,
Gives us grey hairs,
And fries our nerves too.
And when they get lonely,
And call up the house,
Who’s there for ‘em to turn to?
it ain’t Mickey Mouse!
But, through all the turmoil,
The stress, struggle, and strife,
Those men appreciate
The finer things in life,
And they’ll thank their lucky stars
For a truck drivers wife!

Annette Keller Poem
Our Lord, watch over us, your truckers
Wherever we may go
In daylight and in darkness
Following our loads
The roads we run are many
And the job we do is long
But lord, we all are brethren
Out here on the haul
So Lord, watch over us, your truckers
Wherever we may go
And bless the ones who’ve gone before
And those who carry on.

Annette Keller Poem
I try to fight them, those cruel clawing cold hands
that drag me from the pit, clawing, twisting, crushing me.
I must find you! I need to hold you, to be held by you!
So I fight, desperately, to break free, to find you.
I try to fight them, even as the feel of the ropes upon my arms
burning ever deeper, into my skin
. I fight desperately, as the leather collar bites into my throat,
and my breath leaves me. I try to fight, savagely, desperately, to break free.
Knowing I can never escape, that I will fail,
and knowing full well, what fate awaits us both.
I know not where they have taken you, but I can still feel you,
can still hear your voice, as it softly speaks of love.
, It is how I know you are still alive,
and that knowledge gives me strength to fight on desperately.
My body is ravaged, torn, the horrors those cruel hands have dealt, have broken my very soul,
yet I try, desperately to fight. I long for release into the void,
yet I can still feel you, still hear your voice, still know your love.
I know not, where they will take me, until the wagon comes to a stop.
Then, for the first time in almost 16 days, your eyes are the first thing I see.
You are alive, and when your eyes finally find mine, you look with such love, at me.
So again, I fight! I fight so desperately, but those, horrible cruel hands,
tighten their vicious grip, once more.
I reach for you, needing your touch, sobbing your name.
The pain, almost forgotten, gone, almost instantly. I struggle, oh, how I fight!
And so, I didn’t see. I didn’t see the first of the blows, that spilled crimson onto the snow,
at my feet. I screamed for you. I screamed your name desperately
as I watched blow after blow rip your body to pieces, in front of me. Your blood turning the snow to slush, scarlet staining my feet. I watched your soul flee as I screamed for you,
as the fight poured out of me. I watched, as they defiled you.
I watched as they ripped your body apart. I felt your soul leave mine.
I watched, as the light of the sunrise left your eyes.
My soul broken, my body savaged, I crumbled to ashes, there in the snow, at your side.
The numbness that overtook me, did nothing to save me, that day. I can still taste your blood.
Goddess above, I still taste your blood! No, More!
No longer, will I bear this well of horror, and tears!
Goddess, help me! I am drowning in it!

Annette Keller Poem
Since our creation at the dawn
of time, I have loved you
MY perfect companion, my
perfect love, my equal, my
balance
My mate, my one, my all.
From the moment my eyes first
opened, you were all I wished
to see.
Strong, and fierce, drenched in
first dawns light,
A heavenly warrior, hard,
proud, ready for battle.
Your armor gleaming, your
sword in your hand
Your hair aglow around your
shoulders, your eyes sparking
fires
This is what I saw that first
moment, what I always see in
my mind
I see you standing just as you
were at that moment
And I see nothing! Nothing but
your eyes
In your eyes, I can see your
love for me
Like the depths of the universe
there for only me to see
When you look at me I know
no fear, no doubt, no shame
Your eyes speak straight to my
soul
With a language known only to
us
I hear you speak without a
single word
I answer you in silence,
For not a single word could say
so much
I open myself to you, and am
filled with you
I am possessed by you,
claimed by you, loved by you
Oh how I long for you, to be
near you
To have you speak to my soul
once more
I long for that oneness with
you
I yearn for your presence, for
your touch
The time we are apart drives
me
Driving me mad with
loneliness, with grief,
Driving me mad with
impatience for a day still to
come
Yet driving me forward
Pushing forward, forever
forward, towards that day
That one day when we will be
one again
Brief glimpses I am given,
when your eyes seek out mine
And in those glimpses I find
your strength
The strength to survive one
more lifetime
And so, as I have before, I will
wait for you
I have always waited for you,
my love, my mate, my one, my
all
Never have I doubted we would
to be together, you and I
This life time will go on, as did
those lifetimes before
Each one another chance to
hold you, to be held by you
Another chance to be by your
side
So fleeting, so soon at an end,
then to begin again
But eternally, I will wait for you
My soul forever yours
Eternally I will wait for you

Annette Keller Poem
I should be , but I couldn't sleep
not even after our breathing returned to normal, and you have drifted away
on the wings of Morpheus, with me
still wrapped in your arms.
As I stand here, at the mouth of the cave,
the entrance, to what has become our haven,
I can feel a darkness, a terrible
foreboding, like a weight pressing down on me.
Something is coming... I can feel it
gathering around us like a storm.
I know we will be right at its very center.
I am so very afraid of what will come
rising up for us, like the dawn.
But, I have accepted the path, long ago
on which I walk. There can be no reprieve
from fate. I am just not ready,
not to give up my purpose, give up my mate,
give up my very life.
Perhaps, that's why I am trying so hard,
to etch every tiny detail of the scene outside,
into my mind. When the darkness, finally,
comes for us, this moment, of quiet perfection
will be there to give me light in the dark, and
the strength to wield it.
May the Goddess have Mercy on us,
for I fear, this world will not.

Annette Keller Poem
The seasons on the highway
Are different than those at
home
We see them through a
kaleidoscope
Of glass and steel and chrome
The view beyond the window
Depends on where we roam
But never will the seasons look
The same as those at home
The kaleidoscopes swirl of
colored light
Is the world of our daily grind
While home is the world of
family
Where we safely leave our
loved ones behind
It really doesn’t matter where
the highway may lead
Home is never very far from
our mind
And so with our hearts and
home so deeply entwined
Is it any wonder that visions of
home
Are without a doubt our
favorite kind

Annette Keller Poem
There was a mighty chicken truck
Whose name was Can’t Catch Me
He traveled to the coast and back
From sea to shining sea
All the smokies tried to catch him
They just wouldn’t let him be
But somehow ol’ Can’t Catch Me
Just kept on slipping free
Well then one day ol’ smokey bear
Was hiding in the grass
When Can’t Catch Me came strolling by
He jumped out on his ass
He waited til ol’ Can’t Catch Me
Moved to the left to pass
Then he hit his lights and sirens
And said “I’ve got you now, at last!”
But, Can’t Catch Me had seen this all
Just once or twice before
And he handed that bear his paperwork
As he stepped up to his door
He said “What’s up?
What’d ya stop me for?
‘Cause I know it ain’t for speedin’
This truck only does 64!”
Well that bear was mad as a hornet
He just knew it wasn’t true
But his radar gun was busted
And there weren’t nothin’ he could do
He cussed, and stomped, and shouted
And swore “I will get you!”
But Can’t Catch Me was off again
With just a “Too-da-loo!”
He’s probably still out there somewhere
Between those shining seas
And if you ever see him
You just smile and salute
That ol’ truck called
Can’t Catch Me!

Annette Keller Poem
There are those say I don’t belong here
That I’m stealing jobs away from hard working men
Callin’ me lower than nothin’
Cause after all no one should drive
Truck except for a man
But this is where I am
There’s nothing in this world I’d rather do
Than driving this truck right along side you
Through days and nights, oh so lonely
I give it all that I am
Just doing the job same as they do
Whether or not they’d like me to
A lady driver is what I am

Annette Keller Poem
A bleeding and shattered heart
lies hidden
inside a fortress of elemental
ice walls
Kept safe from the curious,
callus, and cruel
deep within her maze of frozen
shimmering halls
She watches, waits from high
above
a silent, eternal, deadly vigil
waiting, waiting for dangers
latest calls
On blackest wings of midnight
silk
She is mistress of both the sea
and air
No one has tamed her; no one
would dare
A warrior,sheathed in armor,
the color of crimson, and blood
A regal guardian
queen,meeting
every assault of those who are
without care
Immortal keeper of an eternal
flame
forever alone she waits,
unknown,and unnamed
For the one who presents
himself the seeker
the keys of wisdom will be
asked, and claimed
Both, soon, to discover
they are, but mirrors of the
same
And now, bound together, a
new pact they will share
Both changed, both changing;
new roles they will wear
Strengths to become
weakness, and weakness to be
laid bare
Forged through the ashes,
primordial power
shall they wield, if they should
dare
Yet, this path, as with the
flame, though eternal
be easily lost, through
impatience, or fear
take the time, hold steady,
keep the path clear
In the end, if possessing the
treasure
to rightfully claim, and shout
"Mine"
be truly, what the heart holds
most dear
