A Child's Peace

Tell me of your peace.
Let it tell your story now
Of trials and tribulations, a tale not of dreams
Weary from a journey of self-discovery
My child, know the comfort in your peace
You feel hope in this familiar place
As it gently sloughs the pain away
Tell me of your peace
In which we all are blessed and free
Search throughout your soul sweet child
Peer not within your cluttered mind
Look out to rest your tired eyes but do not let them see
Solace found strewn upon daily thoughts is fleeting at it's best
Lasting merely moments, in untouched souls a true peace
Oh yes! You'll know when you arrive but only you will know
The world will melt away as a candle left under the blazing sun
Away away, until you feel home again, an unguided familiar scene
An innocence once lost is restored, all sins suddenly forgiven
Soaking this in with relucant ease,
Breathe it deep with a slow release
Take it in, delight in details you discover
Be calm here child, please have no fear, I am here
You are safe in this place of yours, no hurt no tears
We share not the same peace, no no
Unique to each of us, yet stranger to none
Trust in more than what you see, know beauty is within reach
We share this unspoken bond of freedom from ourselves
Please young one, listen closer now
I say, leave it all behind you love, it will only weigh you down
Cleanse yourself of careless words and careful lies
I know you're weary, let go of all you carry
Don't be afraid, here you are burden free
Trust in you, blessed one, it's easier than you believe
Sweet child, tell me now if you see
Peace resting deep within
Waiting for you
For you to let it be

Patience

PATIENCE

We hear that patience is a virtue
Is this true, or simply virtual reality
When leaders are teaching our youth;
do as I say, not as I do
Regression to a version of the American
truth

Impatience is becoming intolerance
But to be patient is viewed as ignorance
In a blind world conforming to violence
Very few see need for benevolence

Many view crime as way of life
Government fuels fires, causing strife
Committing true crime with their lack of
pride
Our country torn by those who lied

Promoting bigotry and distaste for the
unknown
But these days color and homosexuality
are lactose free
Intolerant of equality, it’s a problem,
clearly
Love is love, embrace the hate
Hold it tightly until it sees the light

Peace pushed just beyond our reach
We realize that “hope and change” was
just a speech
Wars raging through the land we call
home
In God we trust, not this powerful regime

Speak out now with virtuous impatience
Change is change no matter how small
the feat
Restore hope with unfaltering acceptance
and grace
Serve what you stand for, no time left to
waste

Dreaming With Your Eyes Wide Open

Have you ever tried to open a locked door without a key
Or had a dream while awake, going about your day
Optimism says, when one door closes another opens
It doesn’t prepare us for the day we find them all locked, but…
If you can dream awake, can’t you just unlock them in your sleep

Clichés are available in any situation
Heartbreak and failure seem to be the most common
Why do we need them?
To misguide reality to a perspective of positivity.
No one enjoys sadness, but fake emotion only extends that dimension,

What if we feel what we feel and we wear it on our sleeve
Are we then viewed as weak
Doesn’t anyone believe that feelings should be judgment free
Or is it better to pretend that in your heart, there’s no one home
Paste on a smile but truth never takes a vacation from your eyes

Pain worn on the skin does far less damage than pain held within
A year of tears that shed pounds as they fall, or
A lifetime of regret that won’t heal trapped without air, in a shell
If it were easy to get over then you wouldn’t be dreaming with your eyes wide open

The heartbeat gives rhythm to feet unwilling to head in the right direction
When you’re done giving power to someone who doesn’t even want it.
You can see, missing pieces won’t make whole what been broken
So just leave the past where it started when life has spoken

Still

Haven’t they seen where time stands still and the sun kisses the morning sky
Running free from the break of day, laughter echoing for miles
Oh yes, it was easier then, when we were only 10
Spirit alive with tomorrows promise and innocence
Watching sunsets disappear and then soon came the years

Innocence, memories from an easier time
Beauty fades, but not for you, I can see through
The soul never weathered and aged like your skin
Spirit worn from facing each day without hope
The soul renewed, found peace, stayed true

Honesty is living life through your soul.
Life is more than meets the eye.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder
And eyes are the gateway to the soul.

Souls which have no color decend unharmed
Reality unmasked, the soul of compassion and forgiveness
Teach the young that they possess a power
To love each other past our cover.

When time is gone, the soul remains as the body decays
Before the end, slow down, enjoy the still
Give your soul to another who truly sees you
Taking only what you need to see truth
Be still and listen to what remains unspoken

Mortal Mother

Does it matter?
The future of our country, our world, the billions we're destined to create
Legacies built on humble ground form concrete jungles our sun cannot appreciate
Generations past saw less importance to sustain
Industry took place of sowing each vital grain
Filth fills our oceans, scatters the lands, and litters impressionable minds
More attentive equals more aware, requiring us to read between the lines
Willed to us great power and ever evolving ignorance
A choice to conform and ignore or seek out reverence
Generations ahead we cannot fathom have a future dependent on your uneducated selection
So many youth remain unaffected refusing to follow our direction
Unaware of Time as years are carefully woven thru deaths spindle
Spend wisely should apply to all which may eventually dwindle
Mother Nature will undoubtedly tire and she too, as us all, will expire
Be careful to Heed her warnings as they continually transpire
Passing the buck is no longer a valid option
Ambivalence is man made, a deadly concoction that will prove to be our most potent toxin
Extinction is not a myth, do you have dinosaurs as your neighbor?
Did you go to school with t-Rex smith?
sorry to say that your beliefs aren't relevant but who cares where you go in the end if all you left behind were empty cans and a big screen television.
It is a gift to exist, yet it's taken for granted, to really live we must embrace vision.
Preceded by people who changed everything but even the bravest of brave were only highly reactive.
This world we've been handed can only be changed by actions deemed as proactive.
We live in a bubble that we blindly assume is indestructible.
Well informed fools continue their path, blithely ignoring the undeniable.
Do you not feel mortal?
It's clear to some but many can not see the extensive damage we've done
Signs are everywhere, the challenge will be the years to come
An urgent call to action, thinkers and doers are among the highest in demand.
Open your eyes to what can be done,
Inspire your children to lend a tiny, yet capable hand.
Or choose to perpetuate civil destruction by sticking your head back in the sand
