Wild and Foolish Love

WILD AND FOOLISH LOVE
Knowing that you exist in my heart
Even when you always decked on your hat
To lure the one that has giving you tough
Times as you often attempt to ride on the rough
Edges of her frigid and rigid mind,
One is not amazed that blind
Love can easily turn someone wild
Although the individuals with mild
Hearts sometimes falls into wrong
Hands and it takes quite a long
Time to realize that infatuation
Breeds unwarranted tension and depression
Caused by emotional hurts and heartbreak,
That is usually the end story of a fake.

Arise Africa

ARISE AFRICA
Arise shine Africa, arise
Awake sleeping giant of the universe
Shine your utter light to illuminate
The dark edges of your continent
Break away from the Traders’ fetters and chains of drill
Thunder your voice from the top hill
Though the beads of your sweat and tears
Tickles down like the oil that quenches the thirsty engines
A smile of the rising sun wipes your weep
Caused by the Masters’ stroke and whip
Those writhe and pains bred generational scars
But remember to carry in your head the scrolls
Africa, a beautiful bride that have come of age
Craftily adorned with bracelet of gold and diamond baggage.

Tribute To a Comedian

TRIBUTE TO A COMEDIAN
Even with your witty strength
The little input of the labor
Of your mouth making the living
Smile away sorrow through jest of jaw,
As you sleep for too long today,
Wondering if there will ever be
Another dawn for you to sneeze
And squint your eyelids as
One gulping a cup full of reddish
Cameroon pepper during harmattan
Good to say goodnight as the sleep deepens
Though your name not boldly engraved
In the hearts of many, as the giant in you
Earlier slept off before you also
Joined to sleep and never to wake up anymore

The Sound of the Gun

THE SOUND OF THE GUN
Sounds like a baby thunder
But the blast discomforts the ears
And terrifies the spirit of man
Suddenly the gush of thick blood
Followed by uncontrollable wailing
And tearing of the heart into shreds.
Just one awful sound, end up producing
So many sounds of agony and sorrow.
At last, unprepared journey begins
To the great beyond after the sudden
Fall of regret and woes.

The Soundless Drum

THE SOUNDLESS DRUM
Countless times you have been beaten
But you refuse produce the faintest sound
To the eager waiting dancers.
Of what use are you when you are soundless?
Of what use are you when no one
Can dance to your melody?
The ones drumming you are sweating profusely
And the dancers are anxiously waiting in vain.
You are like a woman without a womb,
Full grown bride without breast,
A beautiful mansion without a roof,
A sleek car without an engine and a serene paradise
Without an ambiance of tranquility.
Oh! Soundless drum, when shall your sound
Wake up the slumbering giant in us?

The Eyes of the Blind

THE EYES OF THE BLIND
It appears hope is rising somewhere today
It seems a new dawn of opportunities has arrived,
But truly it is all tantalizing mirage and allusion.
Everyone seems to believe their fables
As they drop in our palms decayed currency notes
Which purchasing powers have gone stale.
It is usually one empty promise or the other,
To fulfill is like waiting for the urine of the bird.
Our roads have become death traps,
Our waters have gone sour and poisonous,
Darkness has over powered light as we grope even at noonday
Our young men have turned terrors on our highways,
Causing mayhem and catastrophe day by day
Our young ladies now use their beautiful bodies for merchandise,
Constantly afflicting and polluting the men.
Sounds and blast of ballistic lethal put our hearts to flight,
Both day and night.
Lack of food in our bowels has caused us leanness which defies medicare.
Nothing is practically working as hopes and aspirations are dashed,
Markets have turned homes for gossips,
Hospitals now receives the highest number of lethargic guests,
Undertakers constantly smiles to the banks,
Indeed the future appears bleak and pale,
But still in the chambers of the strong and mighty,
Gold and silver are littered like toilet papers.
Nobody cares to see the ugliness of a giant weak nation,
Even when the eyes of the blind can see it.
