Maggie Huffman Poem
Shit-kick boots, chains on the belt,
Harley on the jacket,
pate crowned with felt...
you can swoon, you can die
at a glance of his eye.
No one seems to notice
that he swishes more than swaggers.
Strut through the room,
dance with all The Gals,
low'r the boom on troublemakers,
joke with all The Pals...
Sally really wants him but she
worries 'cause she staggers
and she never seems to notice
that he swishes more than swaggers.
Last dance, closin' time.
The Gang leaves with a shout.
It's breakfast at the Flyin' K,
but Sally passes out.
So once again, the joke's on them
and really, does it matter?
His newfound trucker friend is glad
he swishes more than swaggers.

Like a fleet rabbit
Memory runs from recall
Teasing from afar.

Loud raucous laughter
From rowdy crows overhead
I missed the punch line

Maggie Huffman Poem
There's a little Dixie devil in that
six-foot, two-inch frame.
He blinks that wink and grins that smile...
you know him.
Mike's the name.
He loves his darlin' lady, Chris,
and courts her with a flair.
The Basquo and the Southern gent...
a perfect, magic pair.
It's a joy to watch them dance and talk
and flirt and fight and coo.
The Fates have given them a chance
to build one life from two.
Whatever paths in life they choose,
they'll travel hand in hand...
that sweet and fiery female, Chris,
and Irish Mike, her man.

Maggie Huffman Poem
Windy
Swooshing through my home
By way of open windows,
The raging, fierce breeze.

Muse, sideways glancing,
Withdraws from informing me
And makes Life austere.

Breeze whisper-talking
To leaves trembling laughingly
Secrets of Nature.

Maggie Huffman Poem
Onion Top Lollypop, Pickleberry Pie,
Weaselade and Red Canary
baked with a sigh.
Purple Meat Taco Treat,
Toe jam on a roll;
these are things you'd like to eat
if you were a troll.
Salad made of peanut shells,
toenail chips and chrome.
These are things you'd love to chew
if you were a gnome.
And what do hungry goblins want
when tummies growl for food?
Turkey beaks and
chicken feet
and
KIDS
WHO ARE NOT
GOOD!!!

Maggie Huffman Poem
i ate the chocolate mint
in typical hedonist fashion
i devoured it
licked off a bit of sweet
that clung to the
crocodile picture
enclosed
slathered my tongue over the wrapper's
inner side
envirocandy
endangered species
read the card
felt
something
