Silent Partner

He walks in silence though you would never know
As he cares for those he calls friend,
Inside tears fall though he would never show
Like brittle leaves from a tree in the wind.

The years have washed his dreams away
Something that life will often do,
He forgets the simplicity of a yesterday
When in a child’s heart all dreams came true.

He cannot remember the last dream he had
Fearing life has played its part,
And the trials of living both happy and sad
Carve into stone where once beat his heart.

Compassion and love help our dreams become true,
And love could feel good… if he only knew.

Space

So much obscurity with no sign of light.
Hope begs the question is there help in sight?
Past, present, and future are mangled in time.
Enters the Captain - buckle-up for flight.
Across the universe, passage bought for a dime.
A countdown begins; it’s the end of the line…
Cashing-in what is left of my mind,
Ready to reschedule this mission of mine.
Envy my trip but heed the sign:
The SPACE around his HEART is dark and sublime.

An Empty Sea Shell

An empty sea shell
Is full of stories I'm sure
Of all its tennants

What Is This Feeling

What is it about your enchanting gaze
That has sent my heart to fire?
I am engulfed completely within the blaze
And burning up in this eternal desire.

What is it about your harmonic tone
That commissions my soul to hear?
As my heart pleas: “let us not be alone,
For with this love there is nothing to fear.”

How is it that one caressing stroke
As upon my hand you place your own,
Could enter within me to so deeply evoke
Emotions I have never before shown?

How is it that I should feel such bliss
With open eyes as I dream through the day?
The touch of your lips from one tender kiss
Oh how it steals my breath away…

Food For Thought

Your darkness was clear as you came into sight
As you circumstantially sucked air from the room,
Still, I nurtured my faith with hope for some light
As I denied the truth of your doom;

Then you consumed my soul, with such sinister bites
As each nibble cloaked behind you tender kiss,
Led to the collection of all those countless nights
As I laid empty beneath you captivated by bliss;

Now alone and aged, left with these voids to tally
As they reveal I have nothing left to conceal,
I understand and confess how my spirit betrayed me
As it was my choice after all… to be your meal.

Darkness will devour us with gluttonous ease and little trial,
When we discount reality... and the consequence of denial.

The Eagle and the Wind

His eyes soar through me,
The wind at his back as he
Swiftly passes me by.
I am still with wonder,
As I watch this creature
Glide through the air.
Romance is my only thought.
I imagine how much the wind
Must enjoy feeling
The feathery soft touch of his wings.
And I begin to wonder
Does it tickle?

I hear the buzzing of the breeze.
Is the wind singing or laughing?
I wonder, what might they say,
The Eagle and the Wind,
If we could speak to each other?
And inside I laugh at my demise
As I holler out my question
Into the wind.

The Briny Water

The briny water
Slowly drifiting down her face
Was a cleansing tear

Garden Angst

So thoughtfully planted, these treats for your sight
Long awaited blooms rising up to the light
Under your care as they thrive poised in the sun
Gorgeous petals admired one-by-one
Beckoning those who should happen upon them
As the slow and sly grasp roots for ascension
In expectation of the coming reward for their hikes
Thanks left in slime for the delectable bites.

The Dark Side of Hope

At first he was pitied for being enchanted by the necromancer. For it was obvious that he was lonely and misunderstood. His followers still wanted so deeply to believe he had some goodness inside of him - despite his emerging inability to demonstrate attributes of the "human condition." But as he sailed deeper and deeper into the abyss of her chasm, he became more and more unrecognizable as the Son of his Mother and Father, or dare say, a Brother to any other living soul.
It became clear that he was destined to be with this humanity-eater. He was drawn to the grafting with such force that no showing of love or faith could retain him; and they became united as devourers of souls.
While he believed himself to be the provider, the malignant parasite gorged the remnants of humanity from his flesh. She consumed his life-force with gluttony then reciprocated with exorcised fecal remains - because even her own vile carcass could not tolerate the waste product of this symbiosis… He became a scavenger worshiping at her deadly fins. And as he foraged from the scraps of false affections tossed at him with cloaked antipathy, what he refused to know was that he cannibalistically fed on himself.
This is why he now gleams reason from madness. And why he believes there is light from shadows. For when you become as empty as this, even your reflection disappears… and the blackened silhouette of a once human form is all that remains.
And even on this day, although his disdain is common truth, hearts still bleed deeply with remorse. To be clear, however, there is no mourning for him. Rather, tears are wept from the loss of hope once felt for him – and they flourish the sea which now casts him apart from humanity.
Does hope really float? When things are at their darkest and heaviest on our heart – is hope what gives us light, and keeps us light so that even during the most desperate of journeys it guides us through and keeps us from sinking into darkness?
Or does hope simply shine truth that darkness is an inevitable counterbalance?
He has always been only an apparition of a man by mankind’s standards; with a soul tethered to darkness. And his shadow is now only seen through reflections in the puddles of hopeful eyes.

When Love Dies

I thought that I would see the signs
So in-touch with my feelings
After all…
Even still, though painfully trying
Letting go
Was impossible.
Fingers blue, from my grip so tight
When they came and pried my hands open
Even the decayed remains
Were gone.
A breath from my lips
Echoed out
As a single grain of dust
On my fingertip
Floated away…
When love dies
Even still, so painfully trying
Holding on
Is impossible.
