Josh Adams Poem
You tell me I’ll be great.
You tell me I will fail.
I fight to become first rate,
And I am hanging off the rail.
Well which is it?
You must surely decide;
For my candle’s already lit
And my moral’s been cast aside.
I rely on you for strength
And yet my strength it greatly varies;
There’s days where my vision’s taint,
And days where mountains I carry.
How can you say I’m wrong?
I do what I am told;
I work so hard and long
Knowing my being will surely fold.
You say it’s not good for me
As you reveal the weight I bare;
And though your words will make me be
Mother, I am rather scared.

Josh Adams Poem
The match is approaching for time has now passed;
He eats a quick meal – knowing it to be last.
The field it is awaiting within thick fog and lights –
He knows that tonight is sure to be a fight.
He gets on a knee and says a quick prayer;
He does it so swiftly – this occasion not rare.
The field now approaches, ominous yet serene –
He sees his team waiting, their strength to be seen.
The ball is kicked and soars like a hawk;
And bodies collide with a thud and a shock.
A fight it turns out – their opponent of great size,
But his team presses forward with a fearless disguise.
Hard hits are given and he takes a few;
But he presses on, for his brothers do to.
Win or loss, fallen or tall,
He walks off the field having given it all.

Josh Adams Poem
This mighty school, this boiling stress,
Supposedly makes me the best of the best.
But how can I be as good as they say,
When I barely have the attention to pay?
From the dark of the morning, to the dark of the night,
I am constantly struggling to keep on the right.
I arrive their so early, and return home so late,
Only to find myself a fish caught on bait.
I feel like I’m breaking this one crucial rule;
And falling behind in this thing they call school.

Flooded by the light of the moon
Soft song of a cricket.

Josh Adams Poem
Rescue me, eyes of fire
Fill me with your livened blaze
Dress me in a star’s attire
Awaken me from this shimmering daze.
Pave me a trail of your warm golden glow
Guide me with your foreseeing light
Warm my veins that they don’t slow
And ease my mind from its pressing fight.
With a glance, set my soul ablaze
Boil my soul ‘till the pains tire
Ignite my heart and better my days
Show me your gaze, eyes of fire.

Josh Adams Poem
Here we go men! Into the valiant fight!
Where men become men and cowards flee our sight!
Iron will clang and feet will race;
As bullets are thrown at a frightening pace!
Men will be thrown and cries will be heard –
As we fly our way through the smoke like a bird.
But in the end we shall acquire our victory;
And together we’ll go down in the great epic of history!
