Timeless Love

They met at first around sixteen, while they were in their teens.
A young man tall and handsome, a girl with many dreams.
Years later they did meet again this time he was smitten.
It took some time to hook this girl, eventually their history written.

He had a plan to marry her and move her from her home.
She'd have to leave her roots, the only thing she'd known.
Leave her home and family was what she had to do,
The love they shared was eternal even though it 'twas brand new.

This love they shared was a gift, their faith was also strong
They both loved many similar things like fishing, books and song.
Seven children blessed their lives, they started their own tree
So strong this love they shared, became one large family.

Both worked hard to raise them, devoted to each one,
They shared their love equally to each daughter and each son.
Education and faith were important, practiced with daily prayer
They fed and clothed this family with love and tremendous care

Each child was very different and different paths they took.
Educators, artists, builders, Lawyers and even cooks.
Each child found their partners, some added children to each branch.
All love music, all loved to read, a few even like to dance.

Their children had more children and the two were greatly blessed,
With lovely grandchildren with many traits that both these two possessed
What remained from the love they shared twas passed down through the line
A love this strong must be shared and it surpassed all time

Four generations have now developed from these two whose love began
So many years before when both had shared a plan.
Each twig shares a piece and resembles one or the other
For this love story that's been described was about a Father and Mother

I'd love to say they share a life together here today
But God had different plans in mind, for one he took away
The void he left was devastating to everyone you see
Hardest on the one for which he shared atop the tree

The plan these two created at the time they were entwined
Continues on by one so strong , who giveth all of her time
To the tree these two created which grows branches to this day
The love created by these two shall never go

Can I Make a Funny

You want me to write something so you can laugh
I will try, but it's an art or a craft
How am I to make you giggle?
Does it have to be with rhyme or a riddle?
Your poetry tends to be dark
Will mine even be able to hit the mark.
Will this laugh I give come from the belly?
If it does then I must write real silly
You call yourself "A Poet Destroyer"
But I tend to think you're just a voyeur
You peek inside my head through my words
Sometimes me thinks what I write's for the birds
So I will try my hardest today
To make you laugh, in my own way.
I hope I get just a smile or a grin
Because this contest is something to win.

Teenage Blues

My whinny,crabby, hungry teen
Your stinky,spoiled and quite mean
You want, you need, you have to have
The latest,newest, modern fad

Your greasy, grimy, hands smear
My wall, light switches, and the mirror
Empty snack bags, with sweet and sour
Create tall,extensive buildings that tower

Your messy,your dirty,in need of a shower
Please make it quick, not loiter an hour
Your smelly,nasty, disgusting shoes
Are slowly poisoning every room

Even with big mouth, rolling eyes and sighs
I would not trade you, I surmise

Last Game

When the big game is over
And all's said and done
Your left with yourself
A team is now one
You question and question
Could I have done more
Will I have another chance to play
Just one more
That decision young players
Is now in your hands
For its time to grow stronger
And turn into men
Remember one thing
Before you close the door
Your talent won't leave you
It can be molded into more
A player at next level,
A coach, or a mentor
Its all in your hands
Like the ball but remember
Don't question could I've done more
Keep looking forward
There are many doors.

The Best Day of My Life

I always thought that I knew love
How intense that feeling could be
But, you were my gift from above
Just exactly what I'd need

I never thought I'd be a mother
I thought that time had past
It was a shock to believe another
For I was pregnant at last

I was 39 at the time
I felt kind of tired and old
My doctor said that I was fine
And a child is precious like gold

It wasnt always very easy
Being pregnant, working each day
Some times I'd get kind of queasy
But, eventually it went away

Tests, ultrasounds, bloodwork , all were fine
An amnio to see if you were okay
Monthly appointments, filled much of my time
Everything was progressing each day

I worked until the day before
Your grandparents flew out to see
I was very ready, couldn't take no more
Wanted my child for just for me

Finally the day had come, when I was to see my son
I got up early, got everything ready, even checked your room.
Slowly I drove to the hospital ,awaiting for the fun
For this was it what I had waited for, i'd see you before noon.

At the hospital they readied me
A Doctor put a catheter in my back
My Mom and Dad rushed up to see
Their grandchild in a wrap

I told them of my nervousness
How I forgot the words to say
So together we as a family
We were able to pray

I had to wait for a long time
Emergency twins were on the way
They said I was next in line
In the holding room was where I stay

So at 930 they brought me in to the room
They draped a sheet in front of my face
I hoped my head wouldn't zoom
I wanted to start this race

At 9:54 you came into my life
Your Dad ran to the end to see
The child that was bore by his wife
We became a family of three

My eyes filled with tears and I felt joy
It was all so new, I never had felt it before
Here's your child, perfect, handsome, and its a boy
For on that day my love for you grew even more

The bond between a mother and son
Is a story that can't be told
To look into your little eyes, I was overcome
My memories of that first time will never get old

So on this day when you had came
Was the best day I could have ever thought
Never mind fortune and fame
To have a child is a lesson in life that can never ever be taught.

Future Plans

I want so much to see and feel
Everything I can indulge
Nature, sounds, sights around me
Food to taste and enjoy
Live fully doing all
That is possible
Then I will feel
Completed
My job
Done.

Sestina

I have cat that wakes me.
At night when she wants a pet
She determines when it's time.

Why does she choose the time?
I'd like that time to be chosen by me.
When I have to pet.

A cat that determines when it's time to pet.
I think she thinks she owns me.
I think she owns everyone's time.

She does own me cause I pet her on her time.

My Dreams

I dream in color with vivid detail
I travel and run and chase
But my favorite dreams I love to have
Are the dreams where I can fly
I take off slowly and soar thorough the rooms
Fast or slow as I want
I can fly outside from a slow takeoff
And I glide and weave without thought
When I awake from these dreams I smile and think
Oh I flown through the night
How exciting it was to breeze through the sky
I wish I could duplicate that
I wonder if others who fly in their dreams enjoy it as much as I
It's hard to explain the feeling I get while dreaming
I'm able to fly.

My Wild West

Out here in "Colo-rah-dee"
It's dry as dry can be
Dustbowls do get rowdy
As far as you can see

Ranchers cook upon the fire
Some coffee and some beans,
There something to admire
Have been many movie themes

Buffalo Bill did travel here
Many years ago
Drive up to see, have no fear
There's lots they have to show

Travel up to the plains
Where buffalo and antelope roam
You will never be the same
It may become your home

For out here we live simply
Our clothes and boots are worn
Our middles may be dimply
Our shirts they may be torn

Mountains may surround us
And blaze in summers sun
Gold has caused many to fuss
That's how the west was won.

So come on out to see
The country at its best
I chose to live here for me
Because I love the West.

Kim Jong-Un Leader of the Starving

I wonder what your thinking, in your country far away
And what on earth possesses you to threaten mine today
You allow your people to starve, munitions they are first
While daily people starve to death and many die of thirst

Your father and grandfather should have taught you how to care
Instead they shared their legacy of treating people unfair
Many live in work camps with three generations or more
Simply because they disagreed, so now all must chore

You live in style above the rest, have people who adore
But deep down, I believe that each person longs for more
You teach hatred and despise my country each and every day
For freedom and free choice would take yours away

Your people follow in fear, like robots in a line
I wonder how long they will conform or will it be your time
More and more try to escape, or die instead of live
In a country such as yours that takes much more than it gives

Each building, statue, memorial you have to tell a tale
Of twisted truths and travesties instead they often fail
For freedom is what's needed in the country you call home
Grow food instead of opium, and leave the people alone

You have the power in your hands to change what was past
Hurry please before it's too late you must do it fast
Do not start a war in which more people will die
Because your father and grandfather started it with a lie.
