Last Night I Had a Dream

I had a dream of dreams you see
That told of good things coming to me
I saw the face of the man I'd love
An angel sends him from above
Walking through a crowded square
I look around but you're not there
Just have patience the angels say
When least expected you'll come my way
Days and weeks and months go by
A shooting star came down from the sky
I turned around and you were there
I finally have someone who cares

Old Dog of Mine

Here's to you
Old dog of mine
I watched you grow old
With the passing of time
So small yet so brave
Thank you old dog
For the love that you gave
I can see your big eyes
And your 'I just ate' chin
In the midst of my sorrow
I can't help but to grin
Alone in the house
I sit down in our chair
And think of the years
That you and I shared
You were more like my kid
Old dog of mine
You'll be in my heart
'Till the end of time

Confused

Each day I do my best to see
What's meant to be the best for me
Instead I find what's always wrong
It seems to make my days so long
I do what I consider best
Still my consequence never seems to rest

Have You Ever

Have you ever been in such a state
Entirely consumed in doubt
On your shoulders too much weight
And seeing no way out
Have you ever reached for a helping hand
And not a soul was there
This was hard to understand
For to me to ask was rare
Lots of hands have reached out to me
I held them everyone
They promised at my side they'd be
They'd see that it got done
Anything at all for me
Just call and they would come
That's not the way it worked at all
I'm out with nothing left
All alone I took the fall
Just me and all my debts

I Need To Know

I need to know
Can you give me a sign
I feel your love
Do you feel mine
I wish I could take back
The time that has gone
I'd run up and grab you
And make you come home
I took it for granted
I thought that you knew
My door was open
I was waiting for you
Not one single day
Did I not wonder why
You were not with me
Right here at my side
I need to know
Can you give me a sign
Will you ease the pain
In this heart of mine

Wondering Why

I sit and think of her tonight
And wonder what we've done
I've got to admit I'm filled with fright
What has our country become?
Each night we tuned into the news
Just to watch her die
We sat and watched this cruel abuse
I wonder, did you cry?
Put yourself inside her shoes
Or those of her grieving mother
Ask yourself 'what would I do?'
If it were your sister or your brother
Her heart was beating her lungs were breathing
Her eyes were big and bright
To take away her food and drink
What gives anyone that right?
There is no way to know for sure
Just what she felt inside
Possibly her thoughts were there
Trapped deep within her mind
Fourteen days have come and gone
She proved the will to live
By hanging on so long
It's over now her souls moved on
To a place that's so much better
If by chance she could have spoke
And asked to let her die
Her request would have gone unheard
No way would we have let her.
