Kate Flatley Poem
Rolling hills in a desert coloured style
dust clouds lift into the air
as the train passes by
Ghostly giant trees hold their pose
Rivers running dry break my heart
Dry and sunny says the weather report
Sheep gather under the shade of a tree
move into the city
the reservoir looks low
Pull up at the station
renovation here
The city train holds many stories
and even more discarded newspapers
mobile phones are the tune of the day
human interaction is rare
Off the train into the suburbs
cars buzzing by
City cafe soothes my thirst
a drink with family
I will rest tonight
possums frolick outside
maybe it will rain

Kate Flatley Poem
Do people know?
when inside your heart is breaking
Do people know?
when all you want is good
Do people know?
that you would love to love them
Do people know?
how pain can make you grow
Do people know?
that you'd love to smile at them
Do people know?
how much a harsh word can hurt
Do people know?
how much a bad look can offend
Do people know?
that we need each other more than we care to admit
Do people know?
how far kindness can go
that a smile is a huge gift
and a nice word is worth millions
Do people know?
Watch the children - they know!

Kate Flatley Poem
Has time diminished the pain?
it seems only yesterday
you suddenly
ripped our hearts out
and took a piece with you
to another place another time
My heart still bleeds
the wound is deep
I see you
only in my sleep
I lost your love when I lost you
a brother is for life
yours was short
how did you feel about that?
being ripped away
from less than half a life
a wife, two children less than five
and you, no longer alive
My heart still bleeds
the wound is deep
I hope tonight to see you
in my sleep

Kate Flatley Poem
I saw the light
like a tunnel to heaven
there it lay, right over you
and you, I knew
were waiting for your death
God, I knew
already had you
an angel in his sights
Your acceptance
was admirable
Weeks later you were gone
and many people lost
But I know you more in death
than in life
I read your poetry
I know you more
You were wise
I know that for sure

Kate Flatley Poem
From a painter to a poet
now I'm inside a drug store
looking for a cure
for a mind gone quite obscure
If you look at me
dont frown dont laugh
dont look too deep and see the pain
I dont fit in here
at least, not too well
so have a heart and smile
But dont take me wrong
if I stand and stare
Im just observing
delighting in how you appear
appear to be fitting in
to the jigsaw of life
My mind does like to trap me
and snare me into strife
so I will think long and hard
way after the day has been
So take some time
to know we are not the same
Forgive my ways
if they seem strange to you
my life often comes unglued
