Rivers of Change

clinging on to the surface of the boat
half shattered and left to decay,
gasping for breath, gasping for air
clinching to the plank, scared where
my hand would let go of it,
erstwhile memories coming past my mind,
like a waterfall of overflowing thoughts,
empty i felt my mind was,
too confused to see the near future.
just an inner gut feeling
saying from within,
hold on to the plank don't let go.

too soon the time had passed,
when the sunnier days i enjoyed,
the journeys seemed so pleasant and peaceful
the waves also accompanying my delight.
yonder my dreams seemed so close and nice,
dreams worth dreaming for,
whence did it all change?
change i did not see in me,
but change i saw all around me,
change which was necessary
i think? but who can be a judge about change
but change itself!

friends going apart- you can see,
you can foresee the inevitability of separation
separation not of the hearts, but due to
the separation brought about by the making of the heart itself.

change i made as the captain of my ship,
sat happily admiring the waves i loved.
my captain i was proud about ,
because he was my chosen appointee to steer my ship.
i never minded his domination and my
subjugation.
oh captain my captain,
my captain steering my life!

gasping my breath, further away i see land,
was very happy, i knew i would live.
oh captain my captain
thank you for throwing that plank
towards me at the nick of time.
land, oh wonderful land!!

Highland

Every night in my thoughts i stray
High on a place
Far far away from any trace
And down i look from this place
To see me sleeping at the base

Far i travel in this way
Soon i see no earth no moon
Just a silvery string with me to say
'Come home' while the night is still not day

Far i travel in this way
And then i reach a luminous way
Chrysanthemums so big to blow me away
Strewn all over to welcome me anyway

Then i reach a garden so lush
Red, green, yellow,orange
And other shades never
Seen through the brush

Water that glows with purple and blue
Trees with flowers no leaves to see
Birds so pretty why would ever
Anyone want to leave

To come was neither a choice
Nor was it my choice to leave
But just to wait another day
When day turns night to let me stray

Contrary Mr Watson

Is it so? they asked me
And 'ya...' was my bewildered reply.
But why doubt it?
I thought at first, but
Hold on my friend
My mind told me, there
Is something else that
Beats the eye.

Are you what you seem to be?
'Ya...' I thought, but
Hold on my friend
My mind told me, there
Is something else that
Beats the eye.

Then i thought, and i
Contemplated.
Am I what I am? or
Am I what I think I am?
Or should I say
Am I what others think I am?

My oh my!! oh my mind,
Think its free, but
Entwined.
Know yourself, it tells me.
It is nothing but my mind,
Know your mind, I tell myself.

Hey hold on! I say to myself,
Then are you different from
Your mind?
And then I ponder and ponder,
To realize...
Hey! you know your mind,
But,
Do you really Know Yourself??

Un-Necessities of Time

Every time i see the Time
Time and time again
I only see the time
Staying ahead of me all the time

To think of Time as your friend
Is as foolish as thinking
You know your friend
And time and time i tell you
Time can never be your friend

To think of Time as your enemy
Is as foolish as thinking
You know your enemy
And time and time i tell you
Time can never be your enemy

To think of Time as your partner
Nay,its as foolish as thinking
You know your partner
Cause Time can only be ahead of you
Aha! what a useless partner Time can be

Every time i see the Time
Time and time again
I only see the time
Staying ahead of me all the time.
