Fool's Fate

My feelings were benign in the beginning
 a way to pass the time
 from life’s dreary moments
 and people’s ceaseless complaints.

The more I talked to you from day to day
  an understanding of you
  your needs and drives
  that made you the man you are now.

From associate to friend I fell
  never fully understanding
  until it was to late
  the path I now tread.

I now have crossed the line
  with my feelings firmly
  encased within your hand
  yet you do not realize my dilemma.

From the inside looking out at you
  and your life’s journey 
  you presently have committed
  to living without what I would offer.

A fool’s fate I now must endure
  never letting him know
  the love I never got to express
  to the one who stole my heart away.
