L.Ruby Meyer Poem
Speak to me not in riddles, but with your truth, plain and uncomplicated
for there is no need for riddles when your thoughts are spoken with good intent
and their purpose is for well being and understanding
Speak to me not in angers potency, but after well contemplating its meaning and source
for a conversation held in anger cannot be presented with clarity of thought or deed
leaving possibility of tortured minds, or wounded hearts
Speak to me not with disrespect, but with honor and integrity
for I will not consider your words, or hold them as valid or worthy
unless, they are justified with decency
Speak to me not only with words, but with the language of your heart
for at times, there is no need of words
when one look can speak a paragraph, and one touch can say all that need be said

L.Ruby Meyer Poem
I was singed from the fire to the point of burning
couldn't escape from the heat 'til I reached my time of learning
that the way to stay safe was just to back away
now here at a distance is where I must stay
and while the others dance around the flames I'll watch from here
where the pain they choose to suffer will just slowly disappear
back into the burning fire they feed with their anger, and their suffering and greed
and I must stand apart and heal
where peace and joy are mine and I can feel
a simple moment full of grace
that no ones words or deeds need take it's place.
I danced around the fire until I learned
for me it was no longer time to burn.

You can't feel the warmth from the fireplace, by looking in through the window!

L.Ruby Meyer Poem
I hear the bells ring
"ding ding"
Go ahead and take a swing
it don't mean a thing
'cause I've learned how to stand my own ground
I'm in the middle of the ring
gloves off
ready for the next round.
Don't be fooled into thinking
you can knock me down
'cause you don't know about the strength I've found.
I've been around
seen life
through eyes that saw the hard way
learned how to live it my way
say what I mean, mean what I say.
I pull no punches
trust my intuition and my hunches
so it's o.k take a swing
it don't mean a thing
your opinion is just that to me, doesn't mean jack to me.
I may be small
but I'm packed full of power
once a shy bud now I'm a full blown flower
so go ahead step in the ring
I hear the bells ring
"ding ding"
go ahead and take a swing
let's see what you bring!

Love is beautiful as a noun, but it is only believable as a verb.

You gather my words like pockets full of pebbles, so when you need to hurt me, you have them there, ready to throw in my face!

L.Ruby Meyer Poem
If you were a seed
I'd be the breeze you could drift on
'til you chose the soil you wished to land upon
and plant yourself within.
If you were a flower
I'd tend your roots and water you
I'd clear a pathway for the sun to reach you
I wouldn't pull you from the ground
or place you in a glass upon my shelf.
If you were the sun
I'd languish in the light you bathed upon me
Then I would be you moon
and let my light shine down upon you.
We could be day and night together
lighting each others lives forever.
If you were, then I would be
This is what love means to me.

L.Ruby Meyer Poem
Time creeps on
No urgency here
Only moments spent in dreaming
Carry on
Swim towards where the pond meets air
See beyond the water that holds you
Floating and suspended
Search your eyes towards the surface
Seek the green of the lily pad
The sparkle of a sunlit moment
Flutter your arms
Dip your head into the flow
Time creeps on

L.Ruby Meyer Poem
What sayest thou oh subtle breeze?
the echo'd love my soul doth grieve
as with the leaves our memories fall
to scatter there amongst the grounds.
What sayest thou oh gentle waves?
the reclamation my heart craves
love is naught but washed away
yet not bestowed upon my crown.
What sayest thou oh blackest night?
to whisper haunting hope til light
and with the dawn the truth doth rise
to shed it's glare upon my eyes.
What sayest thou beloved one?
what mercy's thine for what's undone
my love unworthy for reclaim
yet speaks my heart each day thy name.
