Life's Lemons

See its strange that you seem to forget
Its strange that you can't remember.

First day of Uni was amazing wasn't it?
Mum and Dad worked hard to make it happen.

My blood seems to disagree
my blood seems to forget
the paths they follow were paved by them
My blood seems to be flowing in reverse

Maybe its the wrong type?
Maybe its my fault?
I might be taking breaths the wrong way

See blood provides nutrients to the body
Keeps my heart beating
my mind sane

Blood is my life, keeps the my mind on point
There is always a cancer though
Cancer messing with my circulatory system

You make me feel like cancer
You are busy serving truck loads of lemons

I won't let the sour taste ruin my pallet though
See ambition is mixing liquor with life's lemons

No matter how many I get I will be busy making cocktails
No matter how many set back
No matter how many Lemons
No matter how many cancers
No matter how many selfish relatives

I will forever have ambition
Life's lemons or cancers will never get me down

Can You Hear My Heartbeat

Can you hear my heartbeat?
Its faint like I'm slowly slipping away
My life was a positive path to greatness
Now weeds are chocking the roses that indicate my path
Weeds are all over the place, and I'm losing my way

The sky had turned from blue to grey.
Is this what Life has left to offer?
cloudy days leave me yearning for the sun
cloudy days are beginning to seem normal
cloudy days oh how I wish I could see the sun rise one more time
Am I doomed of a life of being anonymous?
Does greatness elude me?
I feel like I am failing, can you catch me before the ground does?
crashing I need resuscitation
So tell me can you hear my heartbeat?

What To Do

What to do what to do
A beautiful sexy woman besides me
My future ahead of me
She want me to stay and stay true

I am expected to take care of my siblings
Little brother needs to be taken care of
Little sisters don’t want to eat chit lings

So what to do, what to do
Do I stay or should I go?
Do I just pretend that it won’t affect me when I leave?
Should I let her know that we can never be?

Should I have never walked up to her?
Should I have never gotten her number?
“Girlfriends at this stage of life are pointless”

My cousin tells me to focus on school
Gotta stay focused don’t want to miss life
Plus if I stay I might blame her for my failures

Life is all about choices, I should pull the band aid quickly
Sure there might be a little pain but that is always expected
That’s what I get for being unprepared, if I am lucky
She will hate me and that will make it easier
She will forget me soon enough right?
Maybe an elaborate plan will be simpler

Maybe I can get her to see my bad side
I can do something horrid
I can accomplish it if the right pressure is applied

Struggle

Why do I feel so alone?
All alone like no one is there for me
Trapped liked am running on hamster wheel

Maybe I will be better suited for life tomorrow
Maybe my trials will be the blue print for success?
Maybe life's problems come in abundance?

I struggle to find balance
I struggle to express my thoughts

My ancestors told me "hold true with both hands"
I believe in myself and in the people around me
So hard work is my solution

Ambition

They say ambition and greatness are interlinked
Well as a young ambitious black man I agree
but ambition and hard work are two completely different things
Hard-work is what a desperate person does to get himself out of the hole.
Hard-work is what a young man who is infatuated with a young woman does so he can impress her
Hard work is what a son does so that his father can be proud of
So hard work I will do.

Chances

Have you ever had a chance to make a connection with someone and you blew it?
Seriously think I messed that up nicely
Damn I think I might go down as a guy who has missed the most chances in his life!
But life goes on right?
I can still see that look in her eye
Its fading but its still there
Have I missed my chance or am I mistaking it for kindness.
I have no idea but my illness slows me down, drains my confidence, leaves me just a shell of myself.
Can you believe this shit?
I need a cigarette someone light me up? Desirable behavior huh Masu?
