Letter To Young Girls-Body Image

look in the mirror
see that terror
you call “me”
listen to the radio, turn on the tv
see that skinny aneroxic girl
and now your screaming that should be me
body image warped
thoughts controlled
your body might as well go into
system overload
swallow your pride
accept all the lies
that being a size 0
will make you into a hero
now you feel like a zero
you look a little weak
cant even pick up your feet
society is the parent
depriving you of life
sucking you out slowly
until there is no way to survive
I wish you would come back
And see the real you
And to just know babes your beautiful

Who Am I

what have i become?
who am i now?
i am the same girl
i was years before now
promiscuity, shame stains these eyes
months of wear and tear
have turned this youthful heart dry
i wonder that if I looked at me
the way that others do
would i be proud of the person i am?
would God be proud of me, too
i don't think I am a horrible person
i'm not the worse on this Earth
i've seen friends and loved ones do worse
however, i let the pressure
of being "in" bring me "out"
and i am not sure, that i am proud of the person
that i am now

Mother

she rises from the Earth
her tears water the nations
her light blooms the flowers
her smile brings hope to all
she is my mother
my joy, my all
her love conquers all expectations
her sorrow fills the sea
no matter how much dissapointment I cause
she never forgets to say
how much she loves me
she is my mother
my joy, my all
her beauty fills the skies
her peace reigns in the clouds
wherever she may go
she will always wear the crown
queen of my life
who stands firm on the truth
her memory shall live on forever
all those near and far
she is mother
my joy, my all

Mirror

Look into the mirror child
Tell me what you see…
Lost dreams and hopes of years
Past and gone,
Or all the possibilities
Look behind those bright brown eyes
Tell me what you see…
Things a child should never know,
Things no soul should see
Look into that broken heart
That’s trampled on
And stone cold
Times of regret
Have worn your soul
And drowned your joy in seas
See the light reflected
Off the mirror, see
See there’s hope for you and me
Endless opportunities
Life beyond this mirror
Child, stop looking back now
The future is beyond this glass
Make your choice and make it last
Hope for you has just begun
Living life in the light of the Sun
Joy is yours and peace at last
Looking beyond this glass
Looking beyond this glass
