Mistaken

I never thought my tears would fall for you.
Never thought i would see meaness in your eyes.
I thought you were a friend.
A steady place, safe harbor from my troubled winds.
I never thought our trust and bound would be so broken.
Never thought harsh, cruel words would be spoken.
I thought your were my friend.
A shelter where i didn't have to pretend.

I never thought it was leading anywhere.
But i never thought you didnt care.

Damaged Goods

You looked sturdy.

You looked strong.

From the outside

I saw nothing wrong.

You were shiny and polished

not a scratch or a dent

not a smudge, not a fingerprint.

Every tear and hole had been mended

We were happy, or so you pretended

I didn't kick the tires

or look under the hood.

I didn't have a clue you were damaged goods

There were no signs.."Fragile---Handle with Care"

There was no "keep out--beware"

Or did I just not take the time to see them?

What if I had known from the very start?

What if I had known we would fall apart?

Would I have turned and walked away

Or would I have paid the full price just to have you stay?

.

Bread

John 6:51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of
this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I
will give for the life of the world.

I sit at the table of life
hungry
my plate empty
I see the bounty
others feast upon
and I am envious.

Happiness, love, success
seems heaped upon their plates
while I sustain myself on scraps
gnawing savagely
on the smallest of morsels
until they disappear

I hunger for the FOOD of life
I hunger for Your love
but always
I feel myself unworthy

My heart is hungry
my soul emaciated
as I die from within
