Damaged Goods

You looked sturdy. You looked strong. From the outside I saw nothing wrong. You were shiny and polished not a scratch or a dent not a smudge, not a fingerprint. Every tear and hole had been mended We were happy, or so you pretended I didn't kick the tires or look under the hood. I didn't have a clue you were damaged goods There were no signs.."Fragile---Handle with Care" There was no "keep out--beware" Or did I just not take the time to see them? What if I had known from the very start? What if I had known we would fall apart? Would I have turned and walked away Or would I have paid the full price just to have you stay? .
