his merry grin s p l i t s his face
as if cut across with a dagger

Darnett Shimmy Yeah Poem
i break down once more, lost
falling off of the highest precipice of
my own bitter consciousness
tumbling down, crumpling to the floor in a pile
my worn and sagging shoulders crushed with the weighty knowledge
of this injustice that is my ceaseless torment
this abysmal internal darkness which claws into my mind
driving me mad with sorrow and fear and contempt
now i pound and plead, shudder and scream
my blue button eyes spilling saltwater
and i find myself wrapping limp, lifeless arms around my sack body;
shields to ward off this desperate, terrible loneliness
that is growing inside this empty husk of me
for my stitching has torn, and my sides have ripped
and i've spilled all that i am onto the carpet;
all of the sawdust and cotton fluff
the silly stupid meaningless nothing that makes up my entire existence
now all that remains is this hollow aching inside of my fabric body
a hungering for an escape, anything anything anything please
this slow throb that drowns out all else
reminding me forever more that i am and have always been
truly alone.

Darnett Shimmy Yeah Poem
A lame wolf, weathered by neglect and time
Howling questions, pelted like throwing stones
Melting away like mountain snow
Abandoned by people wearing laughter on their skin
Monstrous faces masked with smiles false
Wondering at his mistakes, a life lost
He drip drop drips deep into the ground
For my father, who can at times be a sad man.
Chynna Bear
A Short Poem, Please

Darnett Shimmy Yeah Poem
her crystalline eyes brim with water
the salty liquid cascades down the sides of her face
dripping onto the fine silk of her green dress
she spreads the liquid into the fabric with her shaking hands
afterwards interlocking her fingers
trying to keep them from fretting at her hair, her face, her clothes
hoping that if she can keep herself still
she will not break apart
for this princess has been betrayed
her fragile heart smashed to pieces like glass upon the floor
how had she been so blind to his brittle deception?
she wonders, paining herself, bruising her already beaten down ego
tormented, she squeezes her eyes shut and prays for it to end
bitter tears slip inside of her mouth, drowning her
she digs her nails into the flesh of her cheeks
and, finally, she screams.

Darnett Shimmy Yeah Poem
thwarted are
your attempts to
sway me
simply put;
I have moved
on.
whatever
your motivation
may be
guaranteed,
I'm much too
strong.
