Are You the One

Are you the one?

In time gone by we where as one
As my lonely heart does cry
For understanding what has changed I can only try
The days together in the sun
Now alas, is it all undone?
It’s only you I will stand by
As my faults you do decry
Yet the heart stays fast, not to run

What’s past is dead and gone my love
It’s forward we should move
The future is bright as shining snow
Let it take flight as the mourning dove
I pray you’ll never disapprove
Of the love I’m trying to bestow

Hoisted By My Own Petard

To go out today would be a farce
Bitterly cold and sunshine sparse
I wanted to play
But there was no way
I would certainly land on my arse

Sins

The sins of Man accumulate
Vindictively sowing the seeds of hate
Whats in our hearts will seal or fate
An unspeakable future if we so choose
Our very souls we stand too lose
Shave the insulation of our tainted view
To see the naked truth anew
Do the facets of humanity shine in you?

Sunset

Beautiful sunset.
Earth meets the sea.
A time of wonder, a time of glee.
Children are at play.
Happy in the day.
Bejeweled and bathed in flickering light.
Lovers embracing, holding on tight.
Another day closing, the end of a dream.
Nothing remaining, it’s part of the scheme.
Kaleidoscope of colors will slowly die.
Even the fireflies don’t know why.
The fires are lit and a new life unfolds.
Beyond in the night, moons light holds.
In the rising of the stars, the day will fade.
Nightime settles on our lonely glade.
Gone is the light, the dark closes in.
Only till morning a new day begins.

Child of the Night

Passed by on the street with a glance or a stare.
Forgot in a moment; Why would I care?

Roaming the night feeling your soul bleed.
Always alone with your shame and your need.

Shying away from the suns warm glow.
A wounded child unable to know.

The glorious flower hiding inside.
Yearning to burst with color and pride.

Who tends the garden sowing the seed?
Feeding and trimming and tending all need.

With his love and his word the flower will bloom.
Glorious color bursting forth from the gloom.

Unto the sky the flower will raise.
Full of joy, full of laughter, full of praise.

The Wings of Butterflies

On the wings of butterflies shall I depart
From a land so forsaken
Who am I in this world of gloom
Blown on the breeze as the leaves of fall
Or guided by the color of the flighted ones

Jaded

Shall I hide here in plain sight
Or spread my wings and take to flight

In the darkest corner of my soul
I dare my being to become whole

To know the truth may drive me mad
Am I evil or only sad

The truth eludes in every way
Should I survive another day

Alone and confused in my jaded mind
I look too deep what will I find

Fear of the truth inside of me
Alas it is but the truth that sets us free

Worst Morning After

Again in a rush it’s always the way
Meetings and errands it’s the same very day

But today on my way I spy a cupcake store
Strawberry cupcakes, just time for one more

The day finally over I’ve been to the brink
Think I’ll end the day with just one little drink

A few shots of vodka chased with fruit punch
I never had time to stop even for lunch

Polish vodka so smooth, I’ll have a few more
Then, just like that it’s all over the floor!

Steam cleaning the carpet this morning is my chore
Strawberry cupcakes and vodka... together no more

Chaos Imprisoned

Cold dark and still as death
A place in my soul that I enslave
Thoughts so primitive, raw, and grave

Hold them back, never to see the light of day
For chaos would ensue

Clamoring to escape the bonds I’ve forged
Imprisoned forever in the deep

Hear them whisper in the night
Tempting me with ecstasy
Nay say I, never to embrace
Neither the wicked nor the damned
A price too high my soul to pay
Forever this is held at bay

Courage

I pray the courage to speak aloud
And wish my heart to be not proud

Daydreams intrude on my every thought
Anxiety builds, my mind is fraught

My heart speaks volumes, mouth is mute
Thoughts are rich, actions dilute

Admired from afar but never approached
Will my love for you ever be broached?
