The Me Inside

Few people ever truly see,
The me inside yearning to be free.
They look upon my outward shell,
And think that's all there is of me.

They do not know what I have seen,
What my life had been till now.
But they just sit and judge me,
With no thought to the who, what, when, where or how.

I do not judge them at all,
I just try to see who they are.
Yet they seek to learn,
They only want to scar.

They wound my soul with their words,
As they tear apart my life.
Never to know the fragile heart,
Weakened by so much strife.

Try getting to know me,
Then maybe you will see;
All of the things that are brought together,
To create the me inside of me.

A Reunion In Heaven

I know the pain of loss,
I know the joy of love.
And I know the intense lonliness,
When loved one go to Heaven above.

Now I know how much they meant,
To the life I knew before.
Now I can only look forward to the day,
When I too, walk thru Heaven's door.

Such a reunion there will be,
The singing and laughter will fill the air.
There will be a love like no other,
And time will pass without care.

Until that day comes for me,
I will hold their memories in my heart.
And when that day arrives,
Loved ones will never again need part.

Feeling Left Behind

In a world of darkness and sorrow,
That is where I live.
Lost and so very alone,
With nothing to take and little to give.

Friends and family I saw each day,
Have either died or moved far away.
Other's who kept in touch,
Do not seem to have much to say.

The only company I have these days,
Are the sounds that come from the world outside.
And just as with the bright sunlight,
Far from these, in fear, I hide.

Will tomorrow be the day when I,
Can throw back the shutters and open my eyes.
And look at the world again,
Wiping away all the tears I cry.

Maybe once again I will be able to find,
The hope and joy I had left behind.
And bring clarity and peace,
To my dark and clouded mind.

A Note From the Lost

No one knows the pain,
Behind those forced smiles.
The tears that have fallen,
Along so many miles.

The broken hearts and wounded souls,
So well hidden from the world outside.
The fears and torments so long held,
Where only they can see inside.

Then one day we find a note:
"I'm so sorry I must leave.
I'm sorry for the pain I've caused.
And now for making you grieve."

"I could take the pain no longer.
The sorrow overwhelmed me so.
I felt like I was drowning on dry land.
And so I have to go."

"I hope one day you can forgive me,
And maybe understand.
Why I had to leave this way,
To end it all by my own hand."

"May God forgive my sin,
And welcome me to my home so true.
Where I can be born again,
And see through eyes fresh and new."

"Then maybe things will be better,
My troubles shall be few.
And I will feel whole again,
So shiny, bright and new."

"Goodbye for now my loved ones,
Do not grieve too long for me.
For now I can be what I never was,
Happy, hopeful and truly free."

The Heart

As I grow older I have learned,
That hearts are funny things.
Some days it weeps and mourns,
And other days it sings.

It doesn't take much to move it,
To make it feel so much.
It can be as simple as a word,
Or even a gentle touch.

It can soar to heights unfathomed,
Or fall to depths so low.
Sometimes it can be something,
And we didn't really even know.

But the heart is also a remarkable thing,
With so much capacity for love.
Created by an amazing craftsman,
Our Father in Heaven above.

Storms In Life

Thunder sounds in the distance,
And the clouds are rolling in.
There is a heaviness in the air,
A storm is about to begin.

You jump as the lightening cracks,
Your nerves are standing on end.
A musty smell is riding,
Upon a wandering wind.

Much like the storms in life,
That eventually pass on through;
These storms too shall end,
Revealling a sky so blue.

We just have to hold on,
Until the calm finally returns.
We all live through those moments,
And from those moments we learn.

As Close As a Heartbeat

I heard a whisper in the wind,
And I thought of you.
I could feel you close at hand,
In everything I do.

You never farther than a thought,
Or the next beat of my heart.
And even though you are in Heaven,
I feel as though we never did part.

I miss you so much each day,
And wish that we could enjoy a talk.
Or take the dogs and go,
For a nice long walk.

I know one day we shall be,
Together again with loved ones gone.
We shall rejoice and be happy,
As we listen to the angel's song.

A Little Strange

Shadows scream in the darkness,
Until they dispelled by the light.
Sunshine screams the daylight,
Until they are overcome by the night.

I fear not what I cannot see,
Because it does not exist.
And the voices we think we hear,
Are just wind in morning mist.

Reality is up for discussion,
Madness isn't really madness at all.
It is just the perception of life,
That is for each of us to call.

Anyone who says they aren't a little crazy,
Are denying the truest facts of life.
Sanity is an illusion,
Brought on by all of life's strife.
