As Close As a Heartbeat

I heard a whisper in the wind, And I thought of you. I could feel you close at hand, In everything I do. You never farther than a thought, Or the next beat of my heart. And even though you are in Heaven, I feel as though we never did part. I miss you so much each day, And wish that we could enjoy a talk. Or take the dogs and go, For a nice long walk. I know one day we shall be, Together again with loved ones gone. We shall rejoice and be happy, As we listen to the angel's song.
