To My Dad

I’ve always called on dad when a problem arises.
I know he can fix it and deal with unanticipated surprises.
Some how, some way he always manage to save the day
But occasionally the problem gets bigger along the way
He will try and he’ll think, but no solution comes to sight.
Then he gives up, only to come back with all his might

And when the day is done and work hours gone
And the thing still isn’t fixed-the war is on.
That problem won’t last when he is in battle mode
He will overcome obstacles and win the gold.
Bad catalytic converters to broken windows
Is there something he can’t fix? Nobody knows!

That’s not the reason I love him, I’d love him anyway.
He’s the best, he’s the greatest, what more can I say.
He’s all I’ve ever known and all I’ve ever had
He’s the irreplaceable Big Kahuna and he’s my dad.

Lonely

Drowning out the noise, running to hide
Not a care in the world, no one by my side
It’s just another day, another lesson learned
Like pages of a novel, another one turned
Walk away from the past, no need to look back
Ticket in hand and my bags are packed

New life, new friends
Starting over once again
Being what I wanted to be
Living the life I wanted to lead
Traveling the world completely
Living the good life lonely

Happy Anniversary

I hope…

You guys are more in love today than yesterday
That you only grow closer as the hairs gray

That you always hold hands and exchange giddy glances
And when no ones looking, you steal secret dances

It’s like you said, there will never be enough time
So cherish each and every moment as life’s clocks chime

So reflect and rejoice over your life and loves journey
And from all your children, have a happy anniversary!

Moms Are Made of Steel

Sometimes I think moms are made of steel
Touch as nails with looks that could kill
Like super heroes they never need sleep
And somehow all their promises they keep

With the daily sun, they rise before the crew
Making breakfast, chores, the never ending to do
Then with the final load done, they are the last in bed
Your jeans are clean for tomorrow, just like she said

From the terrible twos to nonstop teenage drama
They keep things straight by playing super mama
But they don’t need a disguise, an alias, or a cape
Just an apron and the eyebrow to put you in your place

They mold you from day one with attention to detail
With constant praise and patience without fail
Whenever you need them, they are always there
To pick you back up or to just show you they care

Every meal is cooked with love and served with a smile
Moms travel with you through life, each and every mile
Every game, competition, and emergency room visit
They bandage cuts and cure crises with everlasting wit

My mother will always be my picture of perfection
With unlimited advice and timeless affection
She takes joy in each moment just watching us grow
I couldn’t live without her; she’ll always be my super hero

Tears

Tear filled eyes and said good byes
A rhyme so fitting for times gone by
What the future holds, now that’s a mystery
Some clues yet to be know, others lay in history

Longing to know what lay ahead
Thinking back of the words left unsaid
A blessing and a curse to think so deep
From the seeds sewn to the harvest to reap

What I would give for a good nights sleep
A night without tears, a moment not to weep
Visible or not the tears still fall
Behind closed doors away from them all

Got to keep going, the show must go on
It’s just another night, mind racing till dawn.

Life Is Strangely Odd

Life is strangely odd, but definitely okay
Darkness and directionless, I’ll find my way
It’s about the journey, not the destination
It’s about the ride there, not the dream vacation

Always stop and smile at where you are
Cherish the now and your travels thus far
Have fun today, don’t wait until tomorrow
And when you’ve reached the end, you’ll have no sorrow.
