Pride and Honor

We fight for our lives,
We fight for our freedom.
We live for pride,
We live for honor.
What is our lives without freedom?
Some think it is not worth living if one cannot obtain freedom.
Others would disagree and praise the hand that feeds them,
Even if that which they praise is a monster.... just to live and breath...
Squeeze out of life all they can... no use of pride or honor.
For what is pride and honor really worth? Death?
I would think not, for life is more powerful the death.
But why choose life if pride has vanished and honor ceases to exist?
Ones reason for pride has changed over the years.
Once it was that of a good man with a pure soul who could be proud and deserved honor,
But now... now... it is beauty and wealth that lead us to have pride in ourselves...
So shallow, no depth...
Surface looks, when did they overrule the pure complete honesty we should all live by?
But we are lost... what is the way back? Is there a way back?
Do we even care enough to look for a way back?
Or better yet, if we did look and find a way back what would we find?
Perhaps we would discover that the meaning of pride and honor has been forever corupt,
And the only way out is to turn and look forward... for we cannot change the past,
We can learn from and use our knowledge of it to help mold that which is to be our future.
A future of continuing freedom.
A pathway to Peace.

Smudge

A smudge on the mirror
Thats all I can see
I cant see the eyes staring back at me
My vision is blurred
My sight unclear
Why cant I see when I am so near
To the person on the other side
Still I cant see the tears she's cried
Before me the image is a lie
For it can only show the outside
Not the truth that's held inside
Behind the eyes that I cannot see
For the smudge is keeping it hidden from me

Roman Holiday

Once I was loved and once you were too
Young wild and free thats all I wanted to be
But you took me in and I had no clue
Just how much you would love me and I would love you
Looking back now I wish I knew what I was going to have to do
The things I did just to be with you
The fight for the right to just be together
Thinking that it was going to last forever
Only to end up falling from grace
My innocence lost and a smile on your face
Little that I could do but just keep going and push through
Stronger today because of it all
Never again will I take such a fall
But when I go back and think of those days and the ways we used to play
I know in my heart that time will always remain my own Roman Holiday

Better Days

"Ive seen better days"
She said looking around
Searching for a familiar face
Wondering when her heart will stop hurting.
"I wish it was the day, that my true love will come and find me"
But all she can do it wait for that better day.
When he will come sweep her cares away
Then once again she will be seeing better days.
But her better days have come and gone.
Its the time between that seems so long.
Wondering if she was the one wrong.
All this time she thought she was being strong
False lies, True story
When will she get to live in glory?

Like, Love, Hate

I can like you
Flirt like a bee
Keep it easy
Just being me
Tossing good vibes
Me to you
Nothing more
Tonight we're through

You can like me
Lay me a line
A compliment
Would work just fine
Hoping that you will get more
Lost your chance
Walked out the door

I can love you
With all my heart
Expose myself
Not very smart
Open up and let you in
Let you taste
The sweetest sin

You can love me
Make me your dreams
Easy enough
Or so it seems
Give me your whole, everything
Make me need
What you can bring

I can hate you
Wish you to bleed
Holding a grudge
Let evil breed
Darkness fills what eyes can see
Send you harm
Make you just flee

You can hate me
Say words so mean
Spew your venom
Heart drips unclean
No more light left in the room
Stomped it down
Let in the gloom

I like you
I love you
I hate you too
I cant live without you
Now what do I do?

Shades of the Heart

Deep Dark
Passion arises
Color of love
Filled with surprises

Light Bright
Smile emerges
Color of joy
Happiness surges

Soft kind
Sweet as a flower
Color of peace
Ultamite power

Hard cold
Cruel as a reaper
Color of Hate
Never a keeper

Shades of the heart
Shades of the soul
Which shade are you
Blackest of coal
Pretty as pink or
Brightest of gold
True test of will
Sight to behold

The Lucky One

Verse 1:
Feel the air soft and sweet on my skin
Thoughts of splendor drift on the wind
Moon so bright hung in the sky
How could you let this moment pass you by?

Chorus:
The lucky one you are to me
But unluckys what I seem to be
No matter how hard I try
In your heart its not I

Verse 2:
Look around me and all I see
Visions that this is meant to be
Moments seem out of a dream
Yet you are blind to the moonlights beam

Chorus:
The lucky one you are to me
But unluckys what I seem to be
No matter how hard I try
In your heart its not I

Verse 3:
Make you feel it, make you care
Wish you could see it everywhere
But you dont and I cant try
I guess I'll let you let it die

Chorus:
The lucky one you are to me
But unluckys what I seem to be
No matter how hard I try
In your heart its not I

Parted Paths

We started off friends

There was something more

We knew better then to open that door

Came so close just a breath away

We knew if it was meant it would happen

Just not that day

And now you live so far away

O the ways we used to play

Makes me miss the good ol days

But the good days are now not then

We can hardly remember when

You love her and I love him

Will we ever commit that sin

Taste each others salty skin

Will the temptation ever win

Back then was a trying time

Both in your life and in mine

Our paths seperated on a dime

We kept on living knowing we would be fine

Now questions come up and get me thinking

Since we parted are we sinking

If we met up now after years gone by

Would we still tingle deep inside

Could you then look me in the eyes

Even though she is to be your bride

Will there be feelings we must deny

Cause I too am with another guy

I cant help but wonder why

So many things in life can make you cry

All I can do is look to the sky

And ask my questions till the day I die

The Hours

What is love?
Do we know?
Far to few of us really get the meaning.
We are always looking for the visions of passion and romance.
But what we need to realize is that those things are fleeting.
Just as beauty and youth slips thru our fingers, so do the ideals of love.
Love is longevity and time.
Time which we never quite grasp.
Time we need to treasure.
Keep locked away in our minds those moments of happiness and pleasure.
For when the end comes and we relive the path we led, we get to see for ourselves
if we loved truly... and if we didnt then we remember the pain....
Instead of the moments we should have made real.

*I wrote this after watching the movie "The Hours"

Just a Dream

When yesterday seemed but a dream
A figment of thoughts wished to be seen
A life that which could never be
A moment of truth to never set free
Held in the place of etheral light
To never be witnessed in true sight
Only to live in an old memory
For dreams are not real
No matter how much you wish they could be...
