The Final Act

we sat in silence, not knowing why,
your world had changed.I examined it with awe,
you dreams never had a chance,i say
looking at you with a half crying smile,
as feeling pity for your existence.
and what of mine, you asked as if to compare,
I turn towards the window,
catching the last glimpse,of the stting sun.
smiling at your question,my dreams never left me
my life is of freedom and rebel........my choice!
freedom you laugh what good is freedom
it only exists in your own mind!
I know ,I say
....then stand and walk away.

Broken People

The children ask why?
adults lie
for what they see no answer will do
in the gutter
a broken person
A lady of dreams rainbows to follow
the vow a lie ,no answer will do
in the divorce court
a broken person
A man of promise places to go
time to run
doctors do not lie , no answer will do
in a wheel chair
a broken person
The coming of age a dole payment the view
more schooling a lie ,no answer will do
learn how to be
a broken person
Born black, stripped of your pride
changes a white mans lie ,no answer will do
made to be
a broken person
many dreams they do lose forever believing
their purpose to cry ,no answer will do
for money ,time and talk
will not heal
the broken people.

Within Reach

Sunsets carried a promise
looked behind my soul
seen what had become
comfort in the coldness
peace behind the walls
safe from the pain of love
you reached for me

turning away
hiding in the shadows
self centered aloneness
running from myself
stopped and looked
behind me you waited

no one waited before
walls crumbled
shadows faded
i stopped running
comfort in the warmth
safe from the pain of love
your sunset is my promise
i reach for you.

Where To Now

holding tight the dream
a million tomorrows
each held the promise,
was too many lost
traded for today
be the watcher as life fades
wear the creases from photograph's
like old movies played often.
Time calls me away
with echo's of love no longer returned
so where too ....now?

Farewell

So where are you now?
our goodbyes are all gone.
your sadness has replaced hope!
will you now hide away forever
alone with our memory's
to surround you,to drown you
your thoughts and fear for tomorrow
in your heart and mind
one of those thoughts
one of those fears
....it was mine.

What a Heart

cold as arctic wind
warm as a day in spring
bitter as a winters storm
gentle as a lovers touch
as sad as a tear
this is my heart i fear

New Beginnings

the stranger within
reaches ....dances in my mind
through these eyes
I have never seen ....such a need
full of promises believing .... this time
the end will be the beginning
the will within holds tight
to a dream thats never been
how often we fall through cracks of love
the stranger reaches hands entwine
.... our first sunrise dances in my mind
with eyes full of promises for this.... our beginning.

Stories of Yesterday:

blow cold with warmth of memory
for you be mine forever,
drifters write with hearts of stone...
for time within his mind
a trail of tears into the past,
a guiding light behind.
believe the need ,more over the greed,
my soul is given freely.
No heart has ever known
drifters love ,be prone
believing with fear
solid as rock
warm as a tear
as gentle the first kiss
forgetting to remember

Dazed and Confused

Love has me now
all trussed up helpless
alone scared to the soul
wandering in circles
within my mind
I see the flash
I wait for thunder
a single raindrop falls
drowning me
love has me now
I smile
then wait
for another storm

The Drifters

Weave our web of freedom lust
dodge just purpose create mistrust
for we are the drifters no need to fear us

A walk along freedoms edge for weekend
or holiday brings you to our domain
but no need to fear us for we are just
a state of mind that you regret to leave behind

Our feelings are natural not neon
they come from our hearts not television
house and garden maybe fine for some
but we fine it hard to conceive
forgive us as we choose our own dream

For we are the drifters and our world is real
no plastic margins of silver and gold or look a like wood
to surround wall framed images of yesterday tomorrow
or if only we could

Painted or prints all the same after you've payed
scenes in valleys a sunsets golden glow
trees and rivers captured no breeze no flow
collect them all if they could trying hard to cover
bricks wallpaper or painted wood
god knows the views from windows isn't any good

For we are the drifters you don't fear us
we live outside the frame of your mind
and water a dream many have watched die
born to run no made this way believing in ourselfs
rain pain or anything without a frame

So we are the drifters next time we go by
give us a wave and say hi
don't just stand there
with mouth gaping wide.
