Lashawn Wilkins Poem
I am the other woman!
I am the other woman!
What woman am I?
Does she look like me?
I smile, laugh and get things done
I am the other one.
He asked me to leave for her
She wants what I want,
But he doesn't notice
He tells everyone how he can't go on
With me being the one,
So I look outside to find my pride
And I notice a man sitting on a porch
And he says to me,
Hi, are you in a hurry
No, I reply and then with a sigh,
I ask why,
Because I'm looking for a mate to whom I can relate
And I stare back at him,
Did he just hear me leave?
The wind blew through the trees
And I realized why I am worried,
About what he just asked,
To make room for her
When I know from all my studying and all my experience
That all I have to do is stand,
Because I am the other Woman!

Lashawn Wilkins Poem
Step Ford Family
Delusional wandering without a clue
Looking around at others what did I do?
I notice that everyone is doing the same thing
So why is it strange that we have the same off spring?
As different as we are looking at each other
We can't get far
So I remember the saying
"Birds of a feather flock together"
If that's true we're doing right me and you
So my suggestion is not to fret
Even if you are walking around like a space cadet!

Lashawn Wilkins Poem
Earring
Standing in line,
In my resolute behavior
Looking with contempt
At all the things ,that make my ears burn
Standing there waiting my turn
Conscious of the slow movement of the line
I hear the argot language, in the conversations that surround
My mind
Using patience and self-control
I begin to socialize until I realize
That the interacting with noisy gossip is not my thing
So I turn around and without a feeling
I disconnect from what only makes my
Ear-ring

Lashawn Wilkins Poem
Bandanna and me
I tie my hair at night
So I can sleep
Hoping my hair doesn't
Move underneath
Trying to save
Sometime in the morning
I don't have to spend to much time combing
Now that I'm gone
To start my day
I'm already dressed
So I'm on my way
First to the coffee shop
To have me some tea
Then to work
My bandanna and me

Lashawn Wilkins Poem
Laying in my bed
it's bedtime
waiting to fall into a dream
I close my eyes to encourage the drift
when I hear a loud scream
I open my eyes to see no one there
I wonder if it was just my hare
asleep in his cage I close my eyes again
and now I notice the sound of the wind
I decide it's getting late
and I'm still awake
so now for the lastime
it is bedtime!

Lashawn Wilkins Poem
Unity right now
In society's class
Where you have to last
With Unity right now
Honoring everyone
Helps the fight you haven't won
Unity right now
It's not in the street or the
people you meet
but Unity right now
Can bring you peace!

Lashawn Wilkins Poem
The way I feel
The way I feel
It doesn't even matter
If others can't stand
That I'm not the latter
Looking at their dreams
I try not to shatter
Always winning
Because of my laughter
Making some angry
It doesn't even matter
That’s the way I feel
Always being flattered

Lashawn Wilkins Poem
I had a life
every door I opened
I found something great
a rubber-ball ,box of crayons
a fire truck,
and a dollhouse, I had to duck
I guess that's my luck
I found a skating board, a hotplate
a few now & laters I hadn't ate
it's not gold
that shines
it doesn't have much value
but every door is always great ,when I'm getting what I like
when I'm not
it's always great
I decided to share this with a friend
my friend, to the end
this is what I have
a goal
an unfinished plan
a Barbie with no a ken, for a man
so if everything's great
why are you up so late
because I have to dig deeper
“I've been having good luck”
I tried to drill in her
so why haven't you settled
because, it was only silver!!!

Lashawn Wilkins Poem
Cope
Bragging to my friends,
About the night of our brawl
Waiting for hours,
And he doesn't even call.
Looking out of the window
Watching the leaves fall,
Unable to take the absence
Of the person I called.
I walked down the hall
Into the same protocol,
As I discover my way out.
I hurt myself without a doubt
And after I'm noticed,
The person I loved,
Doesn’t even ask
What happen to her?
So now I'm gone
And he doesn't even mind,
What kind of life did I have to find.
Now he's at his wedding making a toast
And I'm no where to be found,
With nothing, not even a boast.

Lashawn Wilkins Poem
The day I look at myself
I'll notice the distance
The thoughts of trying to accomplish my goals
are diminished
Maybe if I start again, this time alone
Then I won't be the one wrong
My life has just begun, because now
I know that I've won!
If I believe that I can be
Anything that I see
I'll look around for a career,
So this time next year
I'll be happier than I am now.
