The Dancing Tree

Among the pines and oaks
a space is filled
by a tree with leaves
that just cannot be
still
it shakes and it shimmers
so eagerly
it is just a delight
to watch this tree
the leaves turn from silver
to a light minty green
it's just a mean, green
dancing machine
and if there is music
the leaves so do flutter
leaving you with a heart
turned to butter
I love this tree, pretty sure
it knows it
it dances with love and
knows how to show it
so dance, my tree
with all your heart
here's hoping you and I
will never part.....

Conversation With God

I can't believe I did those things
that make up my dear life
I could have shared with others
let them do one or two
but, someone told me
you were put here for
these things I planned for you

But, God, my life has been so good
are you sure it all was for me
do not argue with your maker
you are mine, you see

The homeless man there on the street
holding the little child's hand
couldn't you have shared my life
with that poor old man

Don't worry, child
that man is homeless 'cause he wants to be
they tried to make him cheat at his job
he kept the faith you see
he quit his job, 'cause he believes in me
his troubles won't be long
for someone else, a CEO,
has identical faith you see
this man will find the homeless man
find out he suits his needs
the two of them will work things out
where there will be no greed

There will be food
while they are homeless
places for them to sleep
in the meantime, my child
there is no need to weep

As long as there is faith in me
I will take care of you
The life I gave you
do not feel bad
It was mine to give you, you see.

You kept the faith but, faltered some
I was there with you
when you die just have no fear
for I will be there too.....

Depression

Of course, I regret
some things I did
but, I can't change
them now
I knew there was
a reason
but, didn't know how
to stand up
for myself
I let them whip me
down
which added to the
illness
I was carrying around
Finally, I gave in
told God to help me find
some saneness in my life
and He was being kind
when He let me have it
but, was there to save
what was left of me
those years of tears
and sadness
could have been prevented
if I had done as ordered
instead of ever consenting
Depression is my middle name
I hope it's never yours
and if it is, stay on your meds
that is the only cure?

Alone

I really don't like being alone
why didn't I know the time would come
at parties, feel out of place
and was a terrible disgrace
to talk to the married men there
who initiated them, to my dispair
I saw nothing wrong talking 'fish'
even offered tidbits of advice
like catching a nice five pound bass
what more could one ask
her opinion of reeling one in
however, their wives did not hear
stared at me while they drank their beer
drew their own sad conclusions
along with delusions
so, alone is where I was this year
Oh, maybe next year will be different
might find a companion, it's true
but, either way, I'd just have to say
alone, doesn't make me blue....

The Trip To Town

A purple pig
a light blue dog
fell in love
while resting on
a log
they had run so
far away
maybe three hours
maybe a day
Her eyes were lilac
his were brown
and they were going
into town
to search out someone
who would marry them
so they could have
babies, maybe twins
like the wind they ran
stumbling and falling
they could hear the farmer
calling
"Come back, come back,
you two are my prize"
to look back at him
would not be wise
so headstrong were they
to be wed
they would be better off dead
'cause the farmer would
not let them live together
in the house in stormy weather?
Certainly not, a pig in the house
he knew he would grunt
not be as quiet as a mouse
Finally, they approached a
preacher man
asked him to do all he can
"Okay, you're married"
he told the two
the dog kissed the pig
and felt anew
they headed back home
their tails wiggly, wiggly
laughing and snorting
and giggly, giggly
And it wasn't long 'til
the farm was ablaze
with colors so pretty
for the pg and the dog
had litter after litter
purple and lilac and
beige and brown
blue and lavender
all because of that
trip to town...

Down By the Stream

A little girl named Buttercup
played in the meadow
by a stream
She'd watch fish swim by
and tell them all hi
but, when a snake slithered
up, she'd scream
Turtles sunning on a log
swam to see her
and frogs croaked out
big hellos
Crawdads back tracked
she would copy exact
until she stepped into
the yucky stream mud
below
Buttercup loved the forest
animals
little rabbits peaking out
from the trees
squirrels running to and fro
and a deer would sometimes show
she would know it time to go
when the whipporwill sang his
song of woe
Buttercup would pick a lovely
bouquet
of the pink honeysuckles
growing there
and give them to her mother
who would now discover
Buttercup had been at the
stream
A scolding for this taboo was
iminent
Buttercup knew it was due
what her mother didn't know
she loved the stream so
A scolding was only
words so few.....

Adam

There's an eye on that man's forehead
and a hump there on his back
and he lives down the road
by the river
Tried to talk to him one day
couldn't find that much to say
I was feeling kinda shy
couldn't look him in the eye
made me quivver
He never bothers anyone
no one knows where he came from
yet, he's been here since the town
was founded
His name is Adam Robichaux
owns a dog named Gitty-up Go
'cause the dog does all the hauling
for the town
Takes the trash out to burn
but, Adam searches through to
learn
all the secrets in the town of the
people
they have no idea, Adam they
should fear
'cause they don't know Adam can
read
He ran across a treasure one day
and what should it say
but, tell him where pot was being
grown
He rushed into town, didn't stop
'til he found
A booth with a pay telephone
called the FBI
Now, he's working with the government
as a spy......

Night Craves

Fudgesickles on a stick
will do the trick
to curb your appetite
way at night
the only problem is
they're next to the
orange cream
and once you see
them looking at you
if you don't have one
of those too
you will turn a deep
shade of blue
and once that orange
cream is gone
you just have to eat
another one... so, on
and on it goes....
all through the night...
no need to fight
an urge such as this...

How Can I Tell You

There was a time when
you carried my load
how would I ever repay
over that distant and troubled road
I was too weak to say
I have nothing to give you
but, my friendship is yours for life
you smiled at me, told me not to worry
that was yours to do
you quieted me in much of a hurry
you'd be back in a day or two
I waited beside that dusty road
wondered why you'd return to this trouble
then, I saw you coming over the hill
worries floated away like bubbles
There were booms of the canons
explosions from bombs
and through it all you ran
carrying me with a broken leg
if ever there was a man
who deserved something better
than what I could give
my soul would be yours
my wonderful friend...
How can I tell you or show
my thanks - it will be yours 'til
the end....>

Change

We know it will be coming
for nothing stays the same
some for good, some for bad
but time is for a change
of course, it can be scary
it can be happy too
just stand your ground
accept the change
it's all for me and you
And if yours should be sad
think about the past
good times shine, they'll
come again
just hang on real fast
change is what it's all about
bringing on emotion
but, that's the way the Man made us
to bend and turn and take the hits
with every single motion.....
