Spirit Set Free...

A sudden shortness of breath,
The clenching of the chest.
You hear the news fail like you're deaf,
The first thing you want to do is confess.

A young man's life cut short,
In a foreign country away from family.
You scream that he needed more,
But atleast his spirit can now roam free.

A whisper on the wind brings tears,
A breeze full of heat as if it's someone's breath.
You turn quickly to abate your fears,
And find that your all alone all by yourself.

A Soldier's Demon

The wind rips me awake and I see my only opening.
The coolness makes me shiver and shake, I look at my hands with longing.
The night closes all around me, it helps to hide my evil soul.
Only through rage will I be free, heart aching and my head hanging low.

The only light inside my eye is you
The only warmth in my heart is you
Slipping further away….away…..away…..

Let the moon light my path,
Give me strength until the very end.
Let my rage fill me fast,
This hell will forever be my friend.

I walk this road of pain and sorrow, my eyes fixated only at the end.
The truth is much more than being borrowed, it will only burn you again.
One day peace will comfort your soul, it will lay you down to sleep.
Black your eyes will slowly go, and the burning will be from the beast.

My only flicker of hope was you
My only salvation was you
It’s slipping further away…away…away

The Morning Sun

Your words are like small steps through my mind....
Your pictures haunt me like a ghost as I close my eyes....
Your love saturates my heart like a warm summer rain....
And your beautiful eyes take away all of my pain....

Whispers of your voice in my ears....
A lingering touch that forever haunts me....
Your beauty takes away my fears....
In your arms my soul will only be free....

A Divided Soul

The night breaks and the moon turns to red,
Alone I sit in this room with you running through my head.
Once I find you my grasp slowly releases it's hold,
Another night goes by that I find myself alone.

I see you underneath it all
I see you hiding among the rubble
One day I will hold you until we are whole

My eyes are hiding you,
The windows to an undying friend.
My heart won't tell me what to do,
Maybe you will take over in the end.

In the rustling of the wind I can hear your scream,
Another night down when out of reach you seem.
Just beyond the horizon I see a blur,
Closer and closer to realize it's just my nerves.

In the mirror you elude me
Just behind what I consider is free
I force my eyes close to clearly see

A Long Night

A Long Night

Walking down by the water’s edge,
I sense the lingering crush of emotion.
With each footstep my heart begins to beg,
Raging against me like a powerful ocean.

Tossing and turning inside my mind,
It fills up with so much static.
Wanting nothing more than for my light to shine,
My body starts shaking in withdraws like an addict.

Sweat wells on my cold forehead,
It makes my body tingle,
Did I say all I should have said?
Our words flowed like strangers trying to mingle.

Laughter feels absent within these walls,
The living has gone without a thought.
Shouting in the night and waiting for a return call,
This long night alone for us was for naught…

Peaceful

My soul set afire with rage, your eyes quell this hunger.
The emotion seeps away like a wave, pulling my soul asunder.
Only peace I will ever find, is hiding deep within your eyes.
My soul will never shine, the peace within me have died.

A longing touch, an embrace, a lingering kiss
A hardened slap, a bitter tear, a closed fist

Peaceful….a wild emotion of fulfillment
Peaceful….setting the world on fire
Peaceful….a hardened will is bent
Peaceful….my heart feels stuck in a mire.
