The Rain

The rain smelled different when I was young
Not yet a care, living for fun

I’m no longer young, but not yet old
Responsibility has taken hold

The rain still comes, heavy and light
Awakening my senses to a new height

Still searching for the rain I knew when I was young
Before innocence had come undone

But now that I’ve seen the rain in so many a different place
I fear the rain of my youth has been erased

Slide Show

A slide show in my mind
Doing time with memories

Everything that has made me has a slide

The good, the bad, the insanely mad
The gained, the lost
All embossed

The pain, the rain
The sun, the fun

Left alone to watch the show
Where it will go, I just don't know

When the show is done
All slides complete
Only then can I rest my feet

I don't believe in Love, especially true love.
But, I have loved that girl since the day I first put my eyes on her.
I'd kill any man who ever caused her harm.
I'd fight an army to be by her side.
For many years she lived in my memory, my recollections.
That was after she left.
I held on to little snapshots of her, though I knew they no longer looked like her anymore.
I held on to memories of when I brought her back to health, selflessly giving of myself.
Unseen circumstances drew everyone's world apart, oceans apart.
But, oceans receded and those memories that I needed were replaced with new memories.
Lives changed and different paths were taken.
Along the way many promises had been broken.
Things were created and destroyed.
There still remained a void.
A void only to be filled only by the one I have loved since the day I
first put my eyes on her.

I'll be ok soon, but just not today
Maybe tomorrow will take it all away
Take away the pain, the memories, the days

I'll be ok soon, but just not today
I might drink tonight and wash it away
I might just sit here and waste the day

My head is spinning with memories
Trying to find out where it all went wrong
What I could have done
Nothing but this song

I'll be ok soon, but just not today
Don't know what to do today...

Untitled (30 July 2010)

You are an actor sometimes,
Playing a role you think you should play.
You know it really well by now.
You never forget the lines.
Perhaps I am just being observant of the human beast.
You do try so hard though...
Why is that?
I just can't seem to figure you out.

Friend of Mine

Sure,doing just fine.
Ya, she's a friend of mine.
At least that's what I say.
That's all they need to know anyway.
Let me get it straight in my head before anything else is said.
If you ask her, she'll say the same thing.
Even though that's not what she means.
Moments shared, no ones scared, just go with the feeling inside.
Telling my secrets, my stories before untold,
Now you know.
Trusting hearts and the evening unfolds.
I really like this one,
Brings out a different me.

20 September 2010 (Updated, Version Ii)

I don't believe in Love, especially true love.
But, I have loved that girl since the day I first put my eyes on her.
I'd kill any man who ever caused her harm.
I'd fight an army to be by her side.
For many years she lived in my memory, my recollections.
That was after she left or more accurately was taken away.
I held on to little snapshots of her; photographs that I knew they no longer looked like
her anymore.
I just needed something to hold on to.
I held on to memories of the time when I brought her back to health, selflessly giving of
myself; saving her from an impending hell.
Unseen circumstances drew everyone's world apart, oceans apart.
But, oceans receded and those memories that I needed were replaced with new memories.
Lives changed and different paths were taken.
Along the way many promises had been broken.
Things were created and destroyed.
There still remained a void, a void only to be filled only by the one I have loved since
the day I
first put my eyes on her.
I searched for her; for years I looked for her along a dusty highway, at a crossing where
I thought she might be.
She was never there, but she was never far either; just out of reach.
Years passed and one day unexpectedly I found her; or rather she found me, by chance.
She had changed so much, but then again so had I.
But, the hunger for her hadn't changed, neither had her need for me.
I was not what I once was to her, and she was no longer what she was to me.
We had changed to be exactly what we needed each other to be.

Wrong Places

Lose your mind
Doing time in all the wrong places

Got some friends
Lots of friends
In all the wrong places

Choose which one
They're all fun
Pretty faces

Dressed their best
Wearing less
In all the wrong places

On display
Come what may
Lined up like vases

Take your chance
Cash advance
In all the wrong places

Lose your heart
Here's where to start
In all the wrong places

My Love

It is what it is,
Even if you want more.
It is what it is,
The only way I know how.
It's where I'm at my best.
Ask for more,
You'll get all the rest.
You won't want the rest.
My restless heart, my wandering eye,
My need to fly.
Just love what you got,
Call it love.
It is what it is,
It's my love,
The way I love,
The only way I know how.

I don't do the things we used to do.
I don't say the things we used to say.
But yet my heart won't forget...I will never forget all the time we spent.
You will always be my little best friend.

I don't know when we will see each other again.
Will you understand the reasons why you left?
It was my plan to watch you grow each day.
I am so sorry it didn't happen that way.

I don't laugh the way we used to laugh
And I'm not part of the things you do each day.
But my heart won't forget...I'll never forget all the time we spent.
You'll always be my little best friend.
