Paperclip

love is like a paperclip
bend it as you will
no matter how it's shape may change
it is what it is still

it can be bent and molded
it can change and grow
but it is still the greatest thing
we could hope to know

but just like a paperclip
no matter what disguise
love is only what it is
it shows there in your eyes

a papaerclip only as strong
as the bond it holds
when it comes to love
if the bond is there you know

love is like a paperclip
it's easy to fall
i guess now that i think of it
love isn't like a paperclip at all

Peace At Last

encumbered in annoyance
they pretend to sympathize
showing their benevolence
to empathetic eyes

broken,callus memories
angry at the sky
no apparent reason
why a two day old would die

bloody sheets and flowers
in a tiny little cell
drapes hang from the ceiling
as dreams fall down the well

down the hall I hear them cry
I hear proud fathers brag
"why am I still on this floor?"
the nurses hear me nag

the hours seem like decades
as the gurney rolls on past
and then the door swings open
the doctor's back at last

"where now is my miracle?"
to you dear god I ask
all I hear is silence
sigh, it's peace at last.

Satin Sheets

Wipe the morning from your eyes
turn the daylight on
take time to put on your disguise
and then turn on your phone

the same routine most everyday
though Sundays we sleep in
the same moments we replay
and then play once agian

satin sheets caress my skin
as I realize the time
so difficult for me
to drag the day along behind

I look at you worn by the day
but just as i walk in
Buzz...there goes my alarm
and your gone once agian

When I Look At You

When I look at you, I see tomorrow
all the ﷯good﷯ inside me
but still there is sorrow
when I look at you I see what might have been
I don't know, where can I begin
when I look at you, i see the world inside
all of the strength you can not hide
for you I'd give up all my pride
I still stay awake and cry
no matter where i am in my life
my ﷯love﷯ for you is not sacrificed
no matter what else i may do
when the day is done
I'll look at you
