Everywhere You Go, I Go

As my time on earth now ends,
fret not, I'm not alone,
you see god, my heavenly father,
just came and took me home.
Heaven is my home now,
my brothers please don't weep,
you may lay my body down,
but my spirit is at your sleeve.
We have done a lot of things together,
things ill never regret,
the good ones or the bad ones,
it's those moments I'll never forget.
I'm your guardian angel now,
I'll go with you everywhere,
although you cannot see me,
just know I'm always there.
To every structure fire,
every smoke filled hall,
every overturned vehicle,
I'm on that very call.
In that burning building,
ill be your eyes to guide,
when you crawl across a weakened floor,
I'm crawling by your side.
Remember me with smiles and laughter,
and wipe away those tears,
remember all the good times,
through all the joyful years.
I love and miss you all,
I'm Sorry I couldn't stay,
keep your head held high,
I'll see you again someday.

Dear God

Now I lay me down to bed,
I pray to god no tears are shed,
I pray to you, cause my heart bleeds,
I turn to you in my time of need.
I need your guidance, so here’s my prayer,
cause this is a heartache, i just can’t bear.
god, please give me strength, to forget my past,
and help me love so it can last.
Please help me learn to overcome,
all the bad things said and done.
Help me trust so when we’re apart,
I always know I’m in his heart.
Please give me courage to face my fears,
to love and laugh with no more tears.
Help me have a peaceful night,
so when I wake in the morning light,
I know our love will stand tall,
through all the obstacles big and small.
Thank you for listening, yet again,
I know your always there for me, goodnight, amen.

Sleepless Nights

Another sleepless night alone,
as thoughts raced through my head,
thinking about that day you left,
and the last words that you said.
I wake up several times at night,
reaching for an empty space,
hoping all was just a dream,
and I’d wake to see your face.
Never does a day pass by,
when I don’t wonder how you feel,
and when I start to really worry,
I just bow my head and kneel.
“Please god be his eyes,
when his duty is in the field,
bring him home safe and sound,
god please protect him, and be his shield.”
Every time i say those words,
a wave of calmness comes over me,
and I’m finally able to close my eyes,
to finally get some sleep.

Thank a Veteran: a Veterans Day Poem

Today is the day we honor,
the noble and the brave,
the men and woman who dedicated their lives,
and the sacrifices that they have made.
When America had an urgent need,
they were the first to raise their hand,
without thinking twice about it,
they were proud to take a stand.
Some came back from war with battle scars,
others in flagged draped coffins,
even though their flesh may have left,
their spirits will never be forgotten.
They unselfishly and knowingly,
put their lives on the line,
so when you see a veteran, thank them,
cause without them, freedom would have died.

A Message From Heaven

God came down to earth today,
And said it's time to go,
I'm sorry I couldn't stay,
I wanted to, you know.
I'm writing this from heaven,
Looking down upon you,
Please don't be sad or unhappy,
My time on earth was through.
When tomorrow starts without me,
Keep your head up high,
My body may have left,
But my spirit will never die.
God has big plans for me,
A list of things to do,
Number one on that list,
Is to watch and care for you.
So wherever you may go,
Whenever I'm on your mind,
Just remember you're never alone,
I'm always by your side.
When your sad and start to cry,
It will relieve some pain,
Remember, there has never been a rainbow,
Unless there was some rain.
When your day is finally over,
And your laying in bed at night,
Ill be right there next to you,
Holding you tight.
When your time on earth is up,
And your soul is finally free,
Don't be afraid, take gods hand,
He's bringing you home to me.

To Fall In Love With a Marine

Let me tell you what its like,
to fall in love with a marine,
he’s my hero, lover and my friend,
when he’s in his shade of green.
He makes me laugh when I am down,
he is with me through every stride,
and he fights for his country,
with his brothers by his side.
He stands tall and proud,
wearing his medals across his chest,
hes seen and done it all,
but knows he’s no better than the rest.
He never forgets where he comes from,
this devil dog is always true,
he always has a positive attitude,
no matter what hell hes gone through.
Every day I worry,
for there’s a chance hes called to war,
but I know he’ll make it back to me,
cause it’s us hes fighting for.
But if that time comes,
and he must leave us for the last time,
I’ll never forget that special day,
the day I made him mine.
But that’s looking to far ahead,
cause that’s few and far in between,
but thats a chance you have to take,
when you fall in love with a marine.

The Purple Heart

There's a story id like to tell,
about a strong and brave marine,
a man to be called a true hero,
for all hes been through and seen.
You see this marine was far from home,
serving his country, and fighting with pride,
doing a job only a few can do,
with those very few by his side.
One day he set out,
on a mission that's better left untold,
this marine couldn't have seen it coming,
as a series of events unrolled.
This marine was severly wounded,
and now has to live with the scars of war,
but even though he has a long road ahead,
he'll always remember what he was fighting for.
In honor of this marine,
who did more than his part,
we salute, and thank you,
with the purple heart.

Daniel Doc Jacobs

He's the one they call "Doc",
tending to those who need his care,
always putting others before himself,
whether in foreign land, sea or by air.
Here's his story, about the time he served,
and everyone needs to know,
Doc volunteered not once, not twice,
but three times to go.
Doc just finished his patrol,
and was headed back to base,
when he heard a loud explosion,
and his heart began to race.
Their humvee had hit an IED,
bomb fragments and glass filled the air,
seeing his fellow marines injured and dead,
was a sight he could not bear.
severely injured himself,
he crawled out of the rubble,
tending to those who needed him,
forgetting that he was also in trouble.
He saved many lives that day,
including his own,
he stayed by his Marines,
so they knew they were not alone.
He is now known as a hero,
and a left leg amputee,
but that hasn't stopped him,
from following his dreams.
He's an inspiration to us all,
a true leader in fact,
because even after his recovery,
he tried his hardest to go back.
His biggest fear was not of death,
or the enemies on the other side,
he feared if he wasn't there,
he couldn't save another life.
he's navy on paper, but a marine at heart,
and always will be,
we salute and thank you,
Semper Fi, Marine.

Hidden Pain

You stripped away my self worth,
layer by layer until it was gone,
I never understood why you hated me,
or what I did so wrong.
I listened as you put me down,
and made me feel like dirt,
bringing me to tears each time,
nothing but pain and hurt.
You constantly accused me,
that I was eyeing every man,
as you dealt yet another punishment,
with a belt in your hand.
repeated hits across my body,
a smack! right in the face,
screaming, crying, yet no one hears,
"you must be put in your place."
I'd wear long sleeves to hide the marks,
makeup to hide the black and blue,
I hid from my friends and family,
all the hell you put me through.
I wish it stopped at that,
but you would drag me to the room,
tearing clothes from my body,
yelling, "don't you dare move."
I can feel my heart racing,
pounding in fear,
praying that it would stop,
under silent tears.
The room got completely silent,
then a fumble around the bed,
opened my eyes just to find,
a gun to my head.
"You disrespect over and over again,
I'm tired of your lies,
this world will be a better place,
right after you die."
I continued to pray ,
my mind and body froze,
"you don't have to do this,
just please let me go."
I heard you cock your gun,
even harder I prayed,
"Dear Heavenly Father,
is today going to be my day?"
"pls God, I don't have much time,
please answer my call......"
"Not today my child,
Not at all."
The gun never fired,
I was able to get away,
I truly believe there was an angel,
holding my hand that day.
Behind closed doors,
was a monster never seen,
over time the pain healed,
but the scars will never leave.
Ladies don't tolerate an abusive man,
don't put up with the hurt,
there is a man out there,
who will treat you for all that you are worth.

The Real Me

This is my real story,
and how it truly goes,
not many know the real me,
but only what my mask shows.
I learned to wear many masks,
to hide the pain within,
in fear people would use my weaknesses,
to cause pain again.
My first boyfriend beat me,
cheated and lied,
so I wore the mask of bravery,
in attempt to try and hide.
My second boyfriend used my daughter against me,
I could never do anything right,
so I wore the mask with a smile,
so she would think everything was alright.
My third boyfriend got addicted to pain meds,
even sold them at one time,
Id thrown on another mask,
to pretend I had a perfect life.
two kids by different dads,
oh no secrets out,
I no longer want to hide,
this is what I'm about.
I found out the man I called grandpa,
use to beat his wife,
I'm ashamed to be related,
or that he was in my life.
I grew up with no money,
and a mom I couldn't stand,
struggling to find the real me,
with all the masks I had.
My life has been far from perfect,
definitely no fairy tail ,
but I no longer want to pretend,
even if it means I fail.
So my mask is off,
this is the real me,
I can be jealous, insecure,
and suffer from some anxiety.
My anxiety is a little different ,
symptoms can't be seen by the naked eye,
it's that kind of anxiety,
where you slowly die inside.
nearly 3,000 friends on Facebook,
and compliments as far as I can see,
but how many can honestly say.....
they know the real me?
