Lidya Maria Poem
Noone asks the glass
how many times it was broken
before it learned to hold the light
blue for the mornings
I almost gave up
glad for the small joys
that found me anyway
green for the places
I outgrew in silence
red for the words
I never read aloud
from far away
it looks whole
closer
you can see every crack
where something sharp
once passed through
yet, the sun enters
still. the room is changing
still, the darkness turns bright
in the quiet air
and shadows soften
where the colors fall
maybe this is how healing starts
not as a perfect pane
clear and unscathed
but as pieces gathered
after shattering
each one holding color
each one remembering its pain
each one gives back light
in a shape
only the wounded
could make beautiful
and when the evening comes
the colors don't fade away
they wait quietly in the shadows
like someone holding her breath
until the morning sun finds them
and they shine once again

Lidya Maria Poem
oh, crumb beneath my keyboard key
your like bread but not like tea
I saw you once last Friday night
you glowed like beige electric light
your crusty soul is effervescent
like soup that joined a family crescent
your melancholy little face
has linty dreams of outer space
I poked you with my favorite pen
you ran away like 7 men
you scooted left, you scooted right
then shouted nothing in the night
my heart became a velvet spoon
it sang at noon beneath the moon
your fragrant silence hurt my toe
although my toe was down below
o crumb. my crumb my desks delight
you haunt my snacks with snacky might
a sandwich died to let you be
now you live rent free under E
the laptop fan began to roar
it blew you toward my bedroom door
you rolled beside a dusty sock
then married it beside a clock
the clock said tick, the sock said blue
the crumb said " I am missing you"
I cried one tear in my exam
then wrote your name upon a yam
so, sleep dear crumb in dusty doom
beside the dust bunny in my room
the world may laugh, the chairs may fight
but you dear crumb, you take flight

Lidya Maria Poem
I stood in the valley looking to my left then to my right
on one side stood belief tall and strong
on the other stood disbelief saying it's not wrong
belief reached for me with steady hands
disbelief just smiled "don't be a fool"
one path was a narrow cave, I began to shake
the other was inviting and safe
which do I take
With Quran held to my chest, I looked again
the safe path glimmered in the sun
but then I noticed it was a lifeless place
my eyes wandered to the cave where prophets stood
the cave was dark but filled with dreams and ease
I grabbed a hijab, wrapped it around me ready to go
with unsteady feet I took a step
toward the cave, a place that looked uncertain from prying eyes
but the peace of Islam was waiting, welcoming, longing within

Lidya Maria Poem
I opened the old drawer, stories long ago hidden
beneath the dust, beyond the debris
A notebook full of eraser marks and hope
an unfinished page still waiting for me
what comes next, I thought as I glanced
poems written that now seem ancient to read
my fears, my wishes, my forgotten dreams
words that once danced with joy and ease
now quietly sitting in the shadow of time
some spoke of plans that don't fit who I am
some told stories of struggles and pain
others were celebrations somehow forgotten
I flipped through the pages
Poems unfinished, Ink slowly fading
A thought halfway started, but never complete
I grabbed my new pen with fire in my heart
When I started to write the glimmer in my eyes once dim
started to grow strong, stronger than it's ever been
Although unfinished verses may always remain
the pen and the paper are calling my name

Lidya Maria Poem
O Tallie, little light of mine
with gentle paws and curious eyes
you walked into my roughest days
and made them soft, warm, and bright.
you were more than just a cat to me
you were my comfort in a quiet room
a tiny heartbeat gently near my own
a friend who took away gloom
I still remember how I loved you
not loudly, but fully
in the way my heart made space for you
your purr was a mercy in my eyes
your fur a place where tired hands could rest
when the world was heavy around me
you made my sadness just a little less
and though you are no longer here
some love will never disappear

Lidya Maria Poem
A nightmare fills the air
in every waking moment there's a lingering fear
not as a monster, not as a broken dream
but as a question that has no place
What if my road crumbles
what if the ocean washed my footprints far from here
what if the knowledge I tried to share
gone like a feather blown in the wind
If I was erased from ever memory
they washed all traces of who I was
like chalk melting in the rain
what If what I built was knocked over
like a child's castle in the sand
then I awaken, it was only a dream
only time will tell what becomes of me

Lidya Maria Poem
I begged Allah for a road
but he handed me a light
dim enough for a step
not enough for sight
I was looking for a map
a future I could hold
but Faith is a path with no path
where my fear can only fold
So, I walk with this small dim light
trusting Where He leads

Lidya Maria Poem
I searched in the dark wanting answers
but darkness only knows how to stare
a silence, looking at an endless doorway
to all the thing I feared.
I yelled into the hollow,
my voice echoed back unknown,
as if all the empty spaces
now knew how to breathe alone
the stars looked dim above me
the ground too far below
all the dreams I carried
they had nowhere to go
so, I stepped beyond the trembling gate
I once watched from afar
past hope I once enjoyed
embrace the void

Lidya Maria Poem
I always thought that twilight
belonged to those who are old
to hand that once held too much
and to stories long ago told
but now I see it's not so
twilight is at every age
when one world fades behind us
and another flips the page
I have buried deep some versions
of the girl I used to be
watch the rainbow fade to gray
then return brighter than the day
If I stood in front of younger me
I would say "it's ok to stumble some courage is handmade"
Do not let the bitter breeze
teach your heart to close
even the sun when leaving
remembers how to glow
so, if this is a twilight
left find me wide awake
still gathering the specs of light
that almost made me break

Lidya Maria Poem
Across the screen voices once unseen
From laughter to love
Once only a dream
Distance fades with just one key
Opening doors as easy as fixing a seam
A student in Azerbaijan
And one sat next to me
One across oceans and seas
Not a quick drive, no meeting for dinner tonight
Different languages fill the sky
Different cultures, different replies
One watches sunrise paint the hills
One is telling me how to fly
A word is spoken, repeated twice
A careful smile follows a mistake
What once seemed strange becomes familiar
With every lesson that we take
Maps hang quiet on the wall
Borders drawn in ink and time
Yet every class reminds me
The world is large and small
ocean divided, but screen United
