defrost

you’re not as beautiful as i made you out to be
there’s an ache in you, bone-deep that keeps you cold
you got it from your daddy and it’s coming out now
how long will i reach for a dead hand to hold?

those eyes tell me everything your words won’t
maybe it’s just wishful thinking
you have a loud mouth and you fight like a dog
you’ll eat anything when you’ve been starving

but i think you deserve a little more than that
i think i deserve a little more than that

bitter, sweet boy

Eyes that feel like bullets through me
Bloodshot, guilty
My skin is splattered crimson
Does it remind you of home?

I think i knew you then
Running around the cul de sac
You’d climb the trees, too tall for me
I sure can’t reach you now, where have you gone?

I remember the last time i saw you
Your daddy gave you a mean kiss
Right to the cheek, purple and tender
That faraway look haunts me now, forever.

I’ve forgotten your voice
You’re the only one with it
You don’t answer my collect calls
If you go home, will you remember me?

That cell turned you cold
In there for life, the judge said plaintively
Until death does you part
From the mess you’ve made.

my face taunts me

What do I want in my life?
To look in the mirror
and be satisfied
would be nice.
My reflection stares back at me
But it’s a different face I want to see.

my sun

everything looks prettier with my sunglasses on
you do too
how can you kiss me from so far away?
id blind myself to get a glimpse of you

you shine on everyone
kissing their skin, i’m nobody’s baby
you’ve burned a great big hole in my heart
a crater like your counterpart you made in me

why do you have to kiss everyone?
your attention is never only mine
come back, shine on me, it’s been too long
i’ll make you want to stay this time

if i could, i’d do it all again
i got what i’d always dreamt of
i felt your light in my chest
i died at your hand, i died in love

steady me

i’m weightless in my head
i’m always growing, always dying
i’ll waste it stumbling blind
my vision is blurry and crowded with bitter loathing

i’m ready to be something
i want to be so much more
i’m meant to be alone
that’s all that i’m good for

i’m happy somewhere

There is no cure
For what’s festering inside of me
The beast i know so well
Crawled into bed with me, and i let it happen.

I sewed my own mouth shut
And resorted to mutilating my own thoughts
They come back in the most inconvenient moments
When i brush my teeth or toss in restless sleep.

Isn’t it embarrassing?
I’m not six anymore
That version of me never existed before, and never will exist again.

if only i could wash it out of me

My chin is stained violet
Blueberries make me nauseous
I hope they don’t stain my soul
As easily.

The blues digesting in my gut
Has spread to my poor head
Pounding, I can hear it,
I split my skin to feel release.

I brush my teeth
Until my gums bleed
The blues has spread to my mouth now
I speak in sore cries.

I am entirely blue
But my vision is tainted with memories
Of simpler times
When I was Technicolor.

come to me

it’s been decades since i’ve seen you last.
the fighting was better than this
dull silence from you.
it has stretched between us
like those years we spent together.
the love that transcends the death
you brought upon me.
why do you deny yourself heaven?
the touch of my skin?
the taste of my love when you suck it out of me?
it is still inside of you,
your love is not lost on me.
for our hearts to dance one more time,
i would let you do it all again.
stab my heart, drag it five blocks
down the street
to the park in paris where our ghosts would meet.
we could act like lovers,
deception where there was once devotion.
take these decaying pieces inside of me
and show me what i can become at your hand.
i love you like i never left.

since four feet tall

waiting all day for your call
loving you since four feet tall
i couldn’t ever regret kissing you

i wanted to taste your sadness
was it wrong of me to dream of this?
your soul is a special shade of blue

staying up to watch you sleep
holding hands and softer dreams
with your eyes shut, you look softer too

running down the street at night
stars blink like the christmas lights
snow keeps comin’ down, i’ll miss you too

speak to me, don’t tell me lies
life flickers like fireflies
nobody’s gonna love you like i do

buzz

staring down the barrel of a drug so violent
to make the noise that you kept so quiet
everyone’s watching us now, what’s done is done

you can lose your mind
you can keep chasing that high
it’ll never be good enough like you wish it was

the briefest of windows
the life in your eyes got lost in the smoke
you took it from me, but i would’ve given it to you

when we were young, you said you wished that someone loved you
but i do
i love you
i can lose myself too
