The humble British baked spud

A proper British jacket potato
Butter melting like a volcano
Super crisp on the outside
Fluffy and salty on the inside
Topped with melting cheese
Scrumptious and made with expertise

A simple meal but a satisfying staple
Cheap enough so all can sit at the table
Every British child has had these
Always happiness guarantees
The memories of the buttery goodness
The simple nature and pureness
Evoking happier memories
Of simpler times with less disparities
For everyone can enjoy a simple jacket spud

Mental health - the other side

I see the shadow making abrupt return
My thoughts turn to pure concern
You turn anxious and quiet
Your mind clearly in a riot

It shows on every crease on your face
Eyes looking out of place
Body languages closes in
This is where this episode begins

I sense the dread deep within my chest
That makes me extremely depressed
As the sadness overwhelms you
A mental battles starts to ensue

I know this happens from time to time
It makes me appreciate when you are on your prime
I fear what the near future may hold
How much your shadow has controlled

How deep are we going to go
It’s not easy to know how to stop the flow
Will this mean you are in danger
Let’s hope it’s nothing major

Every episode is different
Usually low and belligerent
This time am I in harms way
While your shadow leads to disarray

I’m terrified I’ll be alone in this dark world
Your multi layered pain is observed
I fear intense loneliness
I feel the impending hollowness

I’m scared of the harm that could come next
Every moment of every day perplexed
I understand you don’t need me
Your shadow wants to set you free

My soul shatters with those harsh words
Trying to keep calm listening to the birds
My anger reflects your temporarily
It’s hard on everyone mentally

The pain and suffering I witness
I hope this is a short sickness
Is causes such mental anguish
Something I wish I could extinguish

Tip toeing around difficult conversation
Not pushing too hard afraid of revelation
I cannot watch twenty four seven
I hope this is not the time you go to heaven

I hope there is no harm they caused to themself
The one thing we all have is health
I cannot eradicate their traumatic past
The shadow a constant feeling of being harassed

Being so helpless to take away the pain
Try and stand strong and remain
The feeling of being completely lost
While they are as cold as permafrost

Their mind may want to eliminate me
Either way this goes there is no guarantee
I try and think and behave rationally
While I listen and watch compassionately

Attempting to handle everyone’s emotions
Without detonating explosions
Meanwhile I’m dying inside
And doing everything to provide

If I call for help then I become the opposition
For just wanting to talk to a physician
Mentally exhausting every day
I hope to have a safe space for temporary disarray

The boy in the corner

The boy in the corner
Like a statue, quiet
Staring at people and faces
Reading peoples actions

The boy in the corner
Listening to hushed conversations
Playing with their fingers
Drawing with a finger on the floor

The boy in the corner
Quiet as a mouse
Being stared at by others
Saying nothing

The boy in the corner
The talk of everyone else
Every word a lie by people who share dna
They must feel good about themselves

The boy in the corner
Legs numb from being in one place
Not allowed to move or wriggle
A punishment for an unknown reason

The boy in the corner
Observes every reaction
Watches as nobody says a word
Praying someone would do the right thing

The boy in the corner
Is alone in a world full of people
Is cast aside without a second thought
He learns to appreciate the quiet in his mind

The boy in the corner
Is not allowed to scream or stand
He is not allowed to talk or cry
The boy wishes to be anywhere else

The boy in the corner believes this is love
No one has ever shown care towards him
He isn’t listened too
Told he is the problem

The boy in the corner
Is just a boy, failed by everyone
Alone in this big world
No one to love or defend him

A drip then a flood inside my mind

Starts as a weep
A subtle slice through the silence
Tiny drops fall quiet and steady
All day all night no bother at all
Th journey of each drop
From sky to land
From reservoir to tap
The crisp fresh water flows
Breaking through the rubber gasket
Drip drip
Seeping down walls to windows
Shelves to floors
The slow unrelenting drip
Steady as a metronome
Consumes every second with metallic clinking
A tainted brown as it eats seals
Every drop speeds up
A click like a clock
Tiny drops turn to big drops
Holding back that torrent
A background noise turns loud
The mental torture of hearing a constant tapping
One turn of tap releases the pressure
Insanity reaching its peak
Before the inevitable flood
One action or moment can calm this

Are you on Santas naughty list

Dear Santa, Define Naughty

Two teams take their place
Christmas is no time to give grace
A time of happiness
No time for crankiness

A naughty girl sits on Santa’s lap
Not knowing it was a trap
Tis the season of giving
And a time for real living

You need to take my Xmas cherry
Works magic on santas red berry
Share each others magic boxes
Like naughty red foxes

Put some jingle in your jangle
And suck on Santa’s big dangle
I need to assert dominance
And pump you with joy and confidence

Happiness pouring from every crevice
While your tongue masters Ben Nevis
Are you my little hohoho
By giving Santa a slow blow

Naughty girl jingle my balls
While my face out calls
You should give in to my demands
Before I tie and lash your hands

I want you to ride me like santas sleigh
Or I deeply block your airway
You deserve a white Christmas
With the juice of stiffness

Will you empty santas sack
Or should I unleash in the crack
I get the hard *****
While I hear a pure moaner

I trust you with my heart
Spreading those cheeks makes you smart
We choose each other
For a wet smother

I always choose you

Most faithful friend

The dribble of man’s faithful friend
Adorns your leg and foot
Those beautiful deep eyes
Staring directly into your soul
True love that can never be measured
Other than in zoomies and drool
Always by your side
Through happiness and sadness
A comfort for you always
Those that are too good for us
Who never mean any harm
Show us unconditional love
We are not not a responsibility to them
We are their whole lives

Bipolar and you pt3

We are in a crisis
The thoughts and visions inside us
Coming out to play
And making you pray
For all this to go away

I see your desperation
And this broken situation
I see your efforts to battle the demons
I also watch how this strengthens

Your mind running rampant
Your actions show detachment
Not knowing who you are anymore
Nothing is the way it was before

This is not your fault why this happened
No one could of seen or imagined
That malabsorption caused the decline
And your mind to resign

I see the terror when you see the shadow
Your heart beats rapid and your eyes narrow
Palms get clammy
Your eyes go glassy

Dropping into an episode fast
The stress caught up with you at last
A blackout moment to reset your mind
Temporary reprieve from the role assigned

I see your confusion about what you hear
But trust me those voices and people are not near
You are in a place of safety
Where you can express yourself safely

You feel judgement looming
Intensifying thoughts becoming consuming
I wish I could take the pain away
So you can be living your life today

I hear your fears, I hear you wanting to end the pain
It would indeed rest your brain
But cause the ones who love you most
To also become ghosts

Your life is precious to us
Your pain has to be open to discuss
We want to be able to save you
From this life of pain in view

Let’s hope the new little pill
Will make her head go still
Calm the voices and noise
And give her back laughs and joys

The shadows are the enemy
Brutality stealing away your identity
They are haunting your mind in the present
Isolating you and becoming unpleasant

I hope this new medication
Will banish the derealisation
And bring you back whole and unharmed
The only scar is to being alarmed

You and bipolar can live in harmony
Working together on this evolving journey
He isn’t your foe but your friend
A life together you both attend

P.S.
I’m proud of you for hanging on.

Shut Down

You shut yourself away
Very little on display
It started small
But now you have built a massive wall
You won’t show any emotion
But don’t see the erosion
You don’t communicate much
You are loosing touch
The enemy is your shadow
Your way of thinking has become narrow
You are letting the shadow control you
And alter your world view
You have shut everyone out
Your body language has put me in doubt
About how you are actually coping
There is no laughing only moping
You say you don’t feel safe
Then lockdown the case
No words just walking away
Pushing everyone the opposite way
You have been sick for a long time
I have been caring and patient on the decline
But when you shut down
You make everyone drown
I hope you leave your shadow soon
Before it takes you to the last saloon

The observers

Other people looking in
Wondering if they would become the heroin
You look, you see, nothing to say
You turn and look the other way
The beating, the blood, the bruise
Not one word to defuse
The slap, the punch
The sound of ribs crunch
The shouting and whipping
The kicks and spitting
And you still choose to walk away
Were you afraid to disobey
Observing made you complicit
Where was your tolerance limit
You left that day, not a peep spoken
But you left me broken
You continued living your life guilt free
Meanwhile they were knocking 7 bells out of me
You stayed silent in order to keep the peace
But wouldn’t dare phone the police
Your silence makes you a coward
I hope that makes you feel empowered
You choose to ignore my cries
Can’t say Its a surprise
You could of changed the course of history
Your choice gave me more misery
You left me with years of mental scars
Testimony could of put them behind bars
They call it protecting family
That is just pure fantasy
You are someone I could never trust
I now look at you in disgust
Anyone who protects an abuser
Is nothing more than tumour
Only decades later when they are dead
Will you say everything unsaid
You will always pick their side
To the end of their story you complied
You are nothing more than a coward
One day peace will be restored

The nut job next door

Not everyone gets along with their neighbour
A face as hard as a glacier
From day one they were always rude
Always in a bad mood

It started with her not being able to park
Every time she would make a bad remark
A single person driving a van
No business or no plan

A male and female name
I don’t care they are still the same
It doesn’t matter who you decide to be
Your personality is what matters to me

Just because I rent and they own
Doesn’t mean you should sulk and grown
We put up a fence for the paws
No thank you or applause

One day we had a flash flood
I protected her house from water and mud
While she stood inside on the phone
To the insurance company to have a moan

Not one word of thanks
For propping up the river banks
Dirty, wet, back aching
No pleasantness breaking

They tried to stop a legal right
To a back garden, to spite
A lawyer had to be involved
For the issue to be resolved

They use our property to dump their builders waste
Leaving my plants displaced
They have no respect for property
And behave improperly

They scream at anyone parked near
On a public road, their crisis severe
Any builder or delivery person is their next victim
The vicious tongue is not restricted

Never an explanation or apology
They just behave like a monstrosity
No excuse nor reason
To be a demon

No respect for hours of the day
Slamming the door like a display
Knock one knock twice speak a code
All through the night, it’s getting old

The spells they perform and a voodoo chant
Trying to lure and enchant
Speaking to someone who isn’t there
Full conversations in despair

I know it’s not just me they do not like
Their own parents avoid and dislike
They scream at them every visit
For no reason they have hit their limit

Reasoning does not matter for those who choose this
Always an opportunity to be polite and not dismiss
Some people are just not built to be nice
Mental health can be a factor for their dislikes

Whatever the problem they need support
Before one day they are in court
I wish them the best in their health journey
It won’t be me who ends up on the gurney
