Lizzy Mankin Poem
My hooves sound like thunder upon the ground,
My coat is of the blackest night,
My mane shines like a thousand suns,
My tail is as graceful as the river.
My cries cannot be heard with the ears,
They can only be heard by the heart,
The eyes cannot see me,
The heart can sense me.
When my name is spoken,
I raise my head to it’s sound,
All other creatures revere me,
I am the ruler of the forest.
I can stop a fire with my voice alone,
The river becomes still when I near it,
The wind disappears at the sight of me,
I drive rain clouds into hiding.
I am nothing but beauty,
A voice on the wind,
A ripple in the still water,
The stillness if the forest.
I am the horse.

Lizzy Mankin Poem
The world falls to ruin,
Darkness rules,
Blood is shed that is innocent,
And screams echo the night.
Silver light,
Red stains,
Soundless screams,
Quiet laughter.
Screams shatter the night,
The daylight does not come,
The moon hides behind clouds,
And so the darkness rules over all.
I purr into the night,
I cannot see though,
But I can hear you,
I can hear your ragged breathes.
You cannot speak,
You are afraid,
Afraid of the dark,
Afraid of me.
You cannot hear me,
Nor see me,
But you know I am there,
As I am everywhere.
An orange flame aluminates the night,
A silhouette appears,
A single shadow in the flames,
You scream.
No one hears,
No one is around,
The fire dies,
But I am still there.
And I hunt my next victim,
Heedless of screams,
Heedless of blood,
And I purr into the darkness.
I am a shadow,
A figure of the dark,
Light does not touch me,
& I travel further into darkness.
I hunt by dark,
Hide by day,
I watch my prey in shadow,
Waiting to strike.
I move on,
A simple, silent shadow,
Unheard,
Quiet & deadly.
I do not care for the light,
But I love to listen to fire-light stories,
Of the fear of darkness,
Of the fear of me.

Lizzy Mankin Poem
You see my face,
But you walk away,
Not caring,
Ignoring me forever.
I call your name,
But you do not respond,
I watch you disappear into the clouds,
Ignoring me forever.
You never come back,
I sit there & cry,
Crying harder than before but you aren’t here,
Ignoring me forever.
Soon I realize it,
I should’ve seen it before,
You never cared for me,
Ignoring me forever.
I think of how you hurt me,
How much pain I’ve gone through,
But I know you don’t care,
Ignoring me forever.
Then you appear to me with roses,
I shove you aside,
I hurt you like you hurt me,
Cursing you forever.
