Blossom Monyei Poem
Alvin stood firm, his eyes fixed on the target. The game was on, with eight others staring at the top spot. He took aim, focused, and scored 20 - the highest. The crowd yelled in applause, cheers, and congratulations.
But one man in the crowd remained unimpressed. "You're supposed to do better than that," he said, his voice cutting through the noise.
Alvin didn't let the criticism break him. He walked away, practiced tirelessly, and pushed himself to new heights. The next match arrived, and he dominated, scoring 50 - the highest. The applause was louder, the celebrations more than the previous.
Yet, the same man appeared, his expression a mix of disappointment and expectation. "You haven't done anything," he said, before turning and walking away.
Alvin determination only grew stronger. He practiced harder than ever, striving for perfection. The final match arrived, and he emerged victorious, scoring 100 - the highest. The crowd went wild, but he didn't bask in the glory.
Instead, he searched for the man, his eyes locking onto his figure. The man's expression remained inscrutable, but his words were brief: "You've done well."
In that moment, Alvin realized that the man's criticism had been a catalyst for his success. He had pushed himself to be better, to strive for greatness, and to never settle for mediocrity. The pursuit had been worth it, and the validation came not from the crowd, but from the man who had challenged him to be his best self.

Blossom Monyei Poem
The Boy They Called a Lunatic
By Blossom Monyei
I was just a kid, about 12 years old,
when Joseph Nyumah Boakai’s wife asked my landlord to send his son, Francis, to work at her house.
At that time, Boakai wasn’t yet President of Liberia.
Francis refused. He said he wanted to go to school — not serve anyone as a house worker.
His father was angry, but couldn’t say no to Boakai’s wife either.
That evening, my mom sat on the porch marking papers.
The landlord came to her, confused and frustrated.
My mom suggested a different boy — Saah, the landlord’s brother’s son.
He was known in the neighborhood as a lunatic.
The landlord hesitated, but in the end, he sent Saah.
I helped sometimes too — sweeping, delivering food and water to people sitting under the palaver hut.
Then we moved.
Time passed.
An election came.
Joseph Nyumah Boakai won. He became the President of Liberia.
Suddenly, Francis ran to his father, begging to now work for the First Lady.
But it was too late.
Saah was already there.
Saah was already trusted.
Saah had started school.
And you won’t believe what happened next.
Saah graduated top of his class.
The “lunatic” everyone doubted became one of the President’s personal assistants.
He now speaks at youth programs, reminding people:
“Where you start doesn’t define where you’ll end.”
Francis?
He still walks past the Executive Mansion gate…
Wishing he had made a different choice.

"The Race of life" by #blossommonyei
The race of life
I am about to describe
Where some has to work and strive
While the others bribe.
As the first car runs faster than the other
With ease it crosses every border
It wins every level
Without any struggle.
The second car lacked speed.
And prays not to be defeated.
To him the audience paid less heed.
You only have friends when you have succeeded.
The race of life begins at birth
And most people give up too soon.
There's nothing easy on this earth
Unless you're born with silver spoon.
You'll cross the finish line with hardworks
Leave those oportuned, their money talks.
Finish the race it's yours to fend.
Never loose hope until the very end.

Blossom Monyei Poem
--BlossomMonyei--
*Wear a smile
Wear a smile even when sadness comes to tear off.
Wear a smile even if there's no one else to love.
Life might get crazy for a while
It'll be over soon just wear a smile.
Wear a smile it's the best face mask
It's not expensive doesn't require a task.
Wear a smile even if there's nothing else to say
Wear a smile it'll be okay.
Wear a smile Infront of those that caused you pain.
They'll be shocked what they did was in vain.
Every moment you're awake
Every breath that you take
Wear a Smile.

Blossom Monyei Poem
--BlossomMonyei--
I'm a pen that bleeds.
Bruised, inquisitive,
Generous of knowledge.
I'm a pen that bleeds.
Bitten by an Iscariot snake
I'm a pen that bleeds.
these questions that I ask
All I am is curious.
I'm a pen that bleeds
Breaking bread with the knowledge I have.
To those that starve.

Blossom Monyei Poem
--BlossomMonyei--
Raised in the harshest sun
It hurts in his bone
This life he asked from no one
Planted amongst those with hearts of stone.
A black man
Clueless, clumsy
His life's navigation was turned off
The don't care about him.
His mistakes
He can't erase
He'll move on somehow
Though he withers.
A black man
Meets friends
They did him wrong
They did it again.
"Is the world against me?"
"Why?"??

Blossom Monyei Poem
--Blossom Monyei--
Beaten,
Hurt,
Whipped,
Nailed,
He paid for me
Not with gold
But with His life
A promise of love.
I won’t forget
His great gift,
The blood He gave,
The price He paid.
When I get lost,
He finds me.
He leaves the rest
Just to bring me back.
My sins were deep,
But His blood cleaned me.
Now I am saved,
With Him forever free.

Blossom Monyei Poem
--BlossomMonyei--
Walk by faith not sight
What if I fall?
What if I stumble?
In this darkest night.
My faith is weak
In volumes fear speaks
Show me your face
My doubts will burn.
