Daniel Barrass Poem
To carry more than I’ve shown,
things I never told about,
I still somehow carry the cost
of your long forgotten chaos.
I stood strong with a heavy heart.
I stayed brave because I ought to.
There were things I never said,
to protect what little of me was left,
waiting quietly, your arrival.
You never saw me before the silence.
That sound still haunts me.
It made me derail,
the one I had that day when I was nine.
I was just killing time,
until it killed mine.
Too young to know death,
I heard enough to feel it.
I didn’t dare tell.
I didn’t know how.
I was afraid, maybe.
But more than that,
I felt alone, and I stayed that way.
I tried to disappear at ten,
but by chance, I was saved:
someone to share the silence with,
bear witness to the pain.
The weight grew heavier as I did.
Years passed. He never left.
He sank deeper, quietly holding onto me.
I thought I'd heard it all.
True love came and left.
It left without a second glance.
I truly believed it could never end.
This time, silence I never heard coming
speaks louder now it’s brought him back.
Not the memory,
but not speaking out, not being able to.
I wanted to explain.
But how do you say you’re still haunted
by something you never named?
How do you hand someone your childhood ghost
and not scare them away?
How do you explain?
the strength you thought endless,
He’ll leave me in the quiet.
not to invoke guilt to him,
but so he might understand,
I won’t be around for him forever.
I’ve burned so long to keep him warm.
How short the flame becomes.
It’s getting cold at this station.
Things left undone.
So, as he edges near,
if you care, listen close now.
Soon, the silence will come sneaking around,
for the boy at the station is being too loud.

Daniel Barrass Poem
Do I fear you, thank you,
or hate you for hanging round.
I fear I'd been somebody else
who stood on solid ground.
I thank you, cause you made me this,
but I hate the reasons why.
I fear it might just free my soul
when you finally say goodbye.
I hate you for staying here this long.
Thank you for being stable.
I fear the day you leave,
Kane's time, I'm not Abel.
Goodbye, it's time,
at least I hope,
I pray that you'll go quietly.
My greatest loss,
the quietest piece
the part that hopes you'll fight me.
I’ll say this truth,
Là Je M’amuse,
I feel it’s almost over.
That murder smile,
the haunting fact
a grin that’s Grimm, all over.
Absurd to see
to sink so deep,
and disappearing tears.
That day and night unfiltered rot
goodbye, forever, cheers.

Daniel Barrass Poem
Just when I least expect it
One too many plates
An extra knife and fork
It utterly destroys me.
A bag in a bathroom youll never use
Just here under the sink
Whats in it, I can't throw away
Maybe one day? Maybe, one day..
The things done are burnt in
A glance with a grin as you step
Now simple things I can't unsee
Replay, rewind, they're on repeat
Hold your hand up on a drive
You check your lefts and rights
We're right to go to the left here, right? Right.
Each as innocent as the last
You dont get these moments
Locked them out along with us
Never exist in your head
In your mind I'm dead, so I'm dead
I'm dead.
I don't care anymore it's too far
Lied to us, of love and care
It's clear you didn't by the way you left
I asked you not to do it this way
One of these days it'll catch you
im not one to receive it, old friend
In winters cold gaze with a fire alight
I'll wait for the moment
It'll hit you like it's inside, insight
Incite the past you run from my dear
I tried to tell you, to sit, and to grieve
Begging you please, not to run away and leave
One thing that hurt and probably the most
You didn't look back at us
Not once not ever.
A ghost..

Daniel Barrass Poem
"Grievance upon you,
My mere mortal kin.
You didn’t try hard enough,
Now sit with your sin"
I’ve sat here before,
And I know your game.
You feed on my sorrow
And wear it as shame.
"You can hide if you wish
Even run if you'd like,
But all’s not forgiven,
You're holding the knife"
This knife is my burden,
I know it too well,
But it cuts you as deeply
I’ll send you to hell.
"Blame becomes victimless
When cast on oneself.
Now get in here, boy,
You’ll keep on the shelf"
I’ve walked in your shadow,
I’ve stood in your cold,
Yet I still awaken
To these stories of old.
"Well, endure the dark
Let’s see if you’re bold!
For these are the truths
That you had foretold"
I know I foretold it,
I can break it as well.
These truths are your prison,
To me this is hell.
"We'll hold your heart close,
You can be free and forget"
It's not really a choice then,
I'll sit in regret.

Daniel Barrass Poem
It's amazing, they were right!
It all gets easier in the end
The pain of grief and loss subsides
And the sun can shine again
The moments are much happier
And it all just melts away
When not that very long ago
I couldn't make it through the day
The little things become so big
When your world is all askew,
Quiet, fleeting, the passing vivid
memories of you
It wasn't easy in fact, quite hard
Adjusting to all alone
If all It took was these 12 months
I'm glad that I've now grown
I can now move on, and dare I say
Be happy late at night
It's not so dark without you here
Ive finally seen the light
One last thing before I go
Im glad you held me high
Oh, don't believe what you just read
It was all a blatant lie.

Daniel Barrass Poem
I found the old stairs..
The rickety ones.
You know the kind
dusty handrails,
onto cold stone, slick.
Every step may be your last.
Every breath feels like a mistake.
I’ve walked worse, I thought.
But for those wars, at least, I knew
they had an end.
This?
This just keeps on going.
Past the point of no light.
Down where the air gets thick
and the dark gets hungry.
Down where the only sound
is your own heartbeat, slowing,
like it’s tired of you.
Then
finally
the seemingly last step.
Not because you’ve reached the bottom.
Because there isn’t one.
Just into existence.
Just silence.
The weight of knowing
you can’t fall any further..
Home
So not to the dark,
not to the stairs,
nor the journey...
It’s this place
you forced me to find
Because from here,
there’s only one way left to go.
It’s from here
I say from the bottom of my heart
and with all my love,
FUVK YOU.

Daniel Barrass Poem
When you wake up all alone
Ask yourself where you call home
Who you've become now that you're grown
Love was here all along
Love you shouldn't take light
I can’t believe the blatant way
You showed me day by day by day
How little you care in some cruel way
While you mean everything to me.
I may have acted strange to you
I understand you had to choose
What you thought you had to do
Emotions can be all askew
People aren't perfect, even you.
You won't admit you may be wrong
I will dream forever long
You tore the man I was in two
Drowning in my skin to prove
Id be the best i knew for two
To give my love to only you
It was always you.
So when you wake at night and cry
Remember just exactly why
Wish you'd gave another try
Wish you'd had heard me cry
And not have been the reason why
I'm sorry, I'll stay true
Cant believe todays the day
I stood here and you walked on out
I swore I'd put up a hearty fight
For the one love of my life
I'm sorry, I did try.
You may have acted strange as well
Your silence puts me through this hell
Dont know what to do or who to tell
When all I want is you
I'll wait for you, for you to choose
The love i kept, I keep for you
I'm sorry but it's true.
You see a mistake don't you
When you wake up with regret
For all the words you never said
And wish they just reached me
Wish you hadn't left the blame
Apologies that never came
I love you more than I can name
Still you locked the door on me
It didn’t have to end you see
It should've been forever
Our forever and always.
You act like im a stranger
Nothing quite kills me more
When you came asking change
Then you pulled yourself away
To walk right out the door
Not look back at all
Don't expect an easy choice
Said you made up your mind
After all this time
All that time.
One day when I wake up grey
No longer can ignore the pain
Regret I had no chance to say
Regret hurting you, I couldn't hate
I prayed to God to let you stay
I'll be dying here inside
I'll die
If only I'd had the time you'd see
One more chance to be, to keep
The love who was my wife to be
The one love of my life
So don't go acting cold now love
If you love me move post haste
Grab your heart in hand
Hand it to this broken man
Before it's too late
While you still can
You are to me so beautiful
My forever and always.
