Deja Vu

I am not bitter
I am just not in love
My heart isn’t stimulated with chemicals
Making things feel light and airy
Like anything is possible
I am not bitter
I am just waiting
So patiently it’s painful
Knowing you are out there
Living your life
Praying that you want the same
I pictured you the other night so clear
You were standing by a tree
It was to the right of you
As I walked up
You were so excited to see me
You just knew exactly who I was
Arms open
smile so inviting I couldn’t say no
No hesitation
I felt safe and seen
And you said to me
“Where have you been?“
I think about this vision a lot
It came to me on my trip abroad
You had brown wavy hair full with volume
Your eyes soaked me up like a sponge
I can’t get you out of my head
I feel like I will know your face when I see it
I look for you on planes
I look for you in grocery stores
Yet again waiting
Holding on to this dream
Comforted by the realness
Stuck in my head more than my favorite song
Until I am met with Deja vu
Then I know all my wildest dreams can come true
