SENSITIVE ABSENCE

No name
no echo
only blood flowing

skin without edges
as you stumble through life

the breach
within a wound

opaque origin
before form

missing beat
when you believe you feel

a hollow
in the bones

uncreated

the body
before the body.

Flesh That Refuses Form

no sound
in a cascade of nerves

submerged
amid a myriad of silences

a serpentine fold
slices through the viscera

and a breath
of phosphor
burns
in the chest’s hollow

a crawling rhythm
of an aborted name
shapeless

a lunar longing
locks into the bones
among the remnants
of a collapsed nebula

I do not heal
I do not return
I am
flesh that refuses form

Shattered Coral

Blood of gems
crosses the tides

a fractured tremor
of a weary river

fog of marrow
diluted by tremors

spines chained
to the edges of a coral
sinking deep

stones upon a shore
that quivers

and the body hears
only
a wave
mute
that carves.

While We Metamorphose

My voice
broke
on the edge
of breath.

We stripped
the bark
from our ribs
like trees
to find
no center.

Blood
is a language
we forgot
in churches.

I held
your absence
like a flame
burning
under my tongue,

while skin
remembers
the names
we
never
spoke.

I was becoming
not better
just
closer
to the fracture
before
the old name.

And you
fell into me
like a glyph
not carved.

We did not rise
we undressed.

Before the Language of the Senses

Touch me
where I do not tremble.

Make of me a scent
without a name.

Let sound become
what breath once was
before it learned to speak.

Let the tongue
forget
its hunger.

Listen to me
with the skin of thought.

I seek no salvation,
only time
that vibrates
beneath the skin.

Unreadable Traces

Don't call it fever.
Listen
it was a phrase
crystallized in time,
suspended in the air
between us.
Feel how flesh cannot lie
when language
inscribes itself in blood
in a tongue
we never learned to speak.
