Sui Generis

The sun opens her eyes behind a roseate veil,
her aubade harmonizing with Argus-eyed blackbirds
as it rises to a crescendo, staring in her husband’s
cratered eyes, ready to relieve him of his watch over the
world’s children so he can attend to their parents —
that is, the cosmic bodies that collided to create them; the
sacred alchemy.

He lifts her honey veil; a goodnight kiss he hopes to reenact
eternally, the aeons circling anniversaries as if liesegang
rings. She looks back, her flint knife eyes flashing violently.
“This fierce face is a facade,” he thinks, seeing her tremulous
expression, lips quivering in anticipation; a holy seduction
— that is, the ancient and sui generis matrimonio of
gods.

Galaxies

Looking into your eyes
I saw stardust forming into galaxies
and I wondered if The Grand Architect
felt the same wonder when it looked at its Creation

How the starlight danced off the planet’s rings
supernovae painted the Open with its Phoenician palette
suns bubbled and burst with passion
comets streaked as if with purpose

Disturbia

Peering into a pair of eyes
I saw the sun explode
The line between life and death’s inside
  from all angles
Vermillion clouds decorate the aether
A voice is strangled in the cold

Raindrops shuffle my vision
I see your moonlit neckline
Bellissima archeia nera
Twinkling down Jacob’s Ladder
 from Heaven’s Gate
With hallowed intentions

On winter days, summer nights
I drink spirits
  from your celestial solstice
Breathing deep under your waters
Searching for a higher power
Finding it in Your image

Caesar’s Serenade

Cleopatra,

I investigate your eyes
through Nile mist that weaves,
jade butterflies that never fly
sable tresses hanging over leopards
bole skin on the border of Venusian dreamcatchers

Gilded diadems dance as burned suns
radiate from golden flakes of your crown
lightning demarcating the border between genius
—	and ambition
wars are fought easier than your heart is won;
Cupid grieves your connections

Great men fear being made lesser by You
       She of the God-like Mind
made Immortal for her Wise Counsel
I’m no prisoner of Fear nor Envy
                                        nor Love
                           only Fate & Chance
Passionate war’s trompe-l’œil

Adoritrix

Serried spirits walk on the wind

Paratrooper raindrops collecting courage before descent

Drunk off your paints, tasting life in your landscape

Heart ablaze, my fantasies have been conquered

Village pillaged by an army of one, glimmer of my eye tucked in by evening sun

Assigned to your omphalos, war drums curvet

At your touch, I evaporate into song

Polyphonic acme

The Crow

He spreads his lordly cape to slow his descent, gloved talons softly gripping metal throne, his obsidian pallium opulent and ominous. Empowered by wonder and awe, I swallow fear, holding the chthonic messenger’s gaze

Curiosity binds us
The vigilant Seraphim turns
