Marita De La Pena Poem
We have a small pooch Zoe and there’s this dance she does
When the bathrooms steamy, the tubs all sudsy and drains is fill with fuzz
First, she gets these crazy eyes while the soap drips from her ears
Then her body starts to shake as she’s turned toward the mirror
Rinsed and toweled she pokes out her head from her little mummy’s tomb
And when she sees just how she looks excitement fills the room
She explodes just like a rocket propelled toward the sky
Then she runs and wags and rolls around and we laugh until we cry
She turns upside down and does somersaults like a circus acrobat
Then she spazzes out and climbs the walls like a naked crazy cat
Her tawny coat, soft and sweet, looks like a porcupine
And her graceful flag-like tail looks quite electrified
So, I ask my family, why she it is does this deranged dance
Its like she thinks her death is near and getting dry in her last chance
She discombobulates her body ‘til each last hair is dry
Then finally she settles down thinking she may have just survived
And she looks at me so lovingly with her kinky tossled mess
And I smile at her with my whole heart knowing her dance is the best.

Marita De La Pena Poem
Have you ever wondered where fireflies fly,
Where moon beams go when you close your eyes?
If ever a place a real unicorn danced,
Or if fairys grant wishes if they have the chance?
I sometimes wonder if dark eyed horses can talk,
And what magic might be held in a long, mermaid’s lock,
Or what twisted creatures might lurk deep in a wood
And if I could go and tame them or if anyone could.
These are things I implore late at night
when I’m still awake but we’ve turned out the lights.
So I take a change, for a brief romance, with a frog prince or a pony or a golden butterfly.
I muster my courage and focus my mind and welcome my dreams each and every night…

Marita De La Pena Poem
Orange and black kitty cats
Adorn the school hall walls
Candy sales and costume days
Announce the start of fall
Golden leaves falling down
Littering the street
Full moon howl, chilly winds
Spooky spirits meet
Scary movies will premier
On every TV screen
Frightening masks and vampire teeth
Like none you’ve ever seen
Find a bag, put on your suit
In the hopes of a good fright
To trick-or-treat up and down your street
On a spooky Halloween night

Marita De La Pena Poem
I wrote you an invisible poem

What do you think of it?

At first I though it was too long

But then I amended it
_________________________________________________
I’m glad that you are reading it
_________________________________________________
It was inspired all by you
_________________________________________________
But I’ve wondered having read it all
_________________________________________________
if you even think it’s true….

Marita De La Pena Poem
Wake up, wake up, you sleepy head
There’s a herd of rhinos eyeballing your bed!
But use caution, Brother, avert your eyes
That flamingo in the doorway is awfully shy
Good morning, Sister, I’d skip breakfast today
Or that moose in the kitchen might take it away.
Be careful if planning on watching cartoons
Because those wolves on the couch are threatening doom!
Anton, don’t brush your teeth. Emmie, don’t comb your hair
The bees in the cabinet might startle the bear.
Just stay in your bed and don’t plan to play
Good morning, kids. Did JJ tell you? It’s April Fool’s Day…
