Abandoned, Not Broken

a house abandoned
walls caved in
the windows no panes
and the floors creek
yet still a spark of beauty
flawed and few
nothing inbetween
i stay reflecting on the past…
it used to be thriving
full of life
kids playing, people residing
the memories the walls hold
indents of several souls
the history of not one but two,
i take a step back
a dark shadow sweeps through
i slowly watch the rug unroll
its clearer now,
a story unfolds
the faint echo of screaming
and the vision of blood shot eyes gleaming
tear stained curtains rip off the wall
the cracks aren’t just age,
they’re scars, i withdrawal
the hands of man destroyed her beauty
left her falling apart, while neglecting his duty’s
i can’t help but think
she’s stayed so strong throughout the years
still standing tall despite hers scars and constant fear
but,
she’s abandoned now, all withered and torn
at the hands of a man she once adorned
but beneath the surface her foundation stayed strong
it’s the beauty within that’s made her last this long.

i love you

your countless lies leave a sour taste on my tongue
“i love you” you claim
yet it’s muttered using all of the air in your lungs
your breathing stops
and you have nothing left to give
yet i catch myself screaming out
“please just live”
stay with me awhile longer
i can’t face reality without juggling your saunter
the tear stained pillow cases mean nothing anymore
as long as i can hold onto what i think i adore
“i love you” you mutter one more time
and a bead of sweat drips down
worry,
because you’re aware you’re my lifeline
the wadded up blankets cover your face
as i lie awake with a trace of your dna
the painful silence hurts my ears
i know your heart stopped beating a long time ago i fear
so i take a deep breath
and give you what’s left in my lungs
so you can have the last reminisce of what i call
“love”

Smoke and honey

you trace my constellations
you put stars in my eyes
you whisper sweet nothings
which ended up being my demise
the sweet taste of honey you leave on my tongue
numbs the pain of the nicotine in my burning lungs
you say the lace of my garments traces my bones
but all i see is a girl way out of tone
it’s not the falling that scares me
it’s the outcome i fear
will you get better
or will you grow worse throughout the years

Whisky-Stained Silhouette

a whiskey stained silhouette outlines your figure
and the spiced smell of your breath lingers in the air
drunken lies in the late hours of the night make us both forget about how bitter, our lives taste
filling your soul with fire and regret every sip you take
swallow the flame, it sets fire to the heart
the burning sensation takes away the heartache
at what cost is this okay?
you’ve lost yourself
a mere lifeless clone of your body
walks around without a care in the world how his actions affect somebody

She Cannot Decay

she was like a delicate daisy
picked apart by her petals
the wounds inflicted
because she chose to settle
what she thought was good
made her colors fade
a vibrant bright white
turned brown
then grey
but as she disappeared into the ground
she planted a seed that began to sprout
a new growth was born
a new chapter
a new life
her petals reborn into that vibrant white
but now she knows what soil keeps her strong
and which hands are right
and which hands are wrong
she’s makes sure she grows roots that are deep
so she can’t be uprooted
and thrown off her feet
she blooms new petals each and everyday
the once delicate daisy
can no longer decay

10 cents to a penny

anxiety eats me alive
right down to the core
where my soul and mind meet
it’s always at war
it’s rotten, decaying
losing worth like a dime
10 cents to a nickel
a penny, with time
the gut wrenching feeling
won’t go away
for better or for worse
push though day by day
but how can i live
with this knife in my chest
it’s hard to breathe
and leaves me restless
when will it get better?
medication will do
let’s drug you up
silence your mind too
a walking zombie
no feeling or care
just a lifeless body
with hurt and despair
anxiety eats me alive
right down to the core
rotten like an apple
it’s hard to ignore.

No Longer Icing

two dancing silhouettes,
lurking in the shadows
fireflies spark like static in the air
a dream that bloomed
from a far-fetched delusion,
a love that demands lifelong care.

i trip on the train of her white-laced dress,
hoping some man might catch my fall.
how typical of me, to make a mess,
then run away
before time can take it all.

i envy the love i always crave.
i wish it was me
but the brick wall in my mind
won’t let me stay.

wine glasses, once sweet with cake and cheer,
lie shattered on the floor.
a dream dissolved
by the one thing I feared
so they all slammed the door.

it’s clear i’m scared of a lifelong vow
my trust is frayed,
and my heart’s not in it now.
so why do i still long for what i push away?

there’s no more icing on the cake.
i dropped the bouquet.
