Things Two Hearts Left Unread

We walk the same road every day
You walking one way and I another
We need rarely to ever speak when we pass
because we can read each other’s looks
What is never said speaks the loudest
We know what is there, and what is not
You poke at me and I play along
I get silent and make you wonder if I am mad
We play this wicked game but laugh under our breaths
But we do complement each other like the butterfly and flower
I have written these feelings down many times,
though, many times have I had to rewrite them.

I need not brag to any friends but keep quiet
about things that two hearts left unread.

A Cold Winter Night

A woman sits alone on a cold winter night,
with a tattered blanket wrapped around her tight.
In her frail hand, she holds an old empty purse,
in the other, a Bible; she reads quietly this verse.
"I will be glad and rejoice in Your unfailing love,
for You have seen my troubles from heaven above".

"Thank you, Lord, for keeping me one more day,
And use me for your purpose, is what I pray."
As she continues to read to herself in the cold,
a stranger approaches the woman of old.
“Have you no family or home to keep you warm?
You'll freeze to death in the coming winter storm”.

She looked up at him with a very warm smile,
and spoke with such kindness; in a humbled style.
"There was a time in my life when I had it all,
that came with a price; and in my faith did I fall.
Since I came back to “The One”, who created me,
he fulfilled His promise to take care of my needs.
I may not have riches or a home made of stone,
but provisions are met by people's kindness shown".

A single tear rolled down the stranger's cheek,
as he knelt next to the woman so meek.
With arms around her, he helped her stand,
covered her with his coat, and took her hand.
"Tonight you have found a home with me,
for there was a time that I had nothing, you see.
But a very kind woman saved me from my plight
when she gave me a home on a cold winter night".

What is Love?

Love is everything good and true in life, and what enhances every living thing. Love is hearing the first cry of a child after birth. Love is the reason that a child is born. Love is the deepest emotion created besides hate; and the thin line that divides them. But love will always win. Love, from the deepest part of your being, is the most beautiful look you can give another person without speaking. It is in every joyful or heart-touching moment. Love is in every gentle touch that comes from the heart and in every whisper that you only want that special person to hear. Love is the greatest gift given to anyone and the greatest gift received. Love is also the sigh that comes naturally when you are with a special someone. Love is hard work at times but so worth the paycheck it gives. Love is watching how a child interacts so innocently with another. It is also the feeling you get when a child hugs you so tight. Love is something that can either make you or break you. It can make you the happiest or also can cause you the most sadness if taken from you. Love is the purest thing ever given to us... We can accept it or reject it, but it will remain. We decide whether to hold onto it or let it go. But without love, a life can not thrive. Love causes goosebumps or a lump in your throat when you hear a certain song. Love is the stream of tears that run down your face when you are touched by something you see or hear that you can't express in words. Love is the strongest feeling you can ever experience and give to someone or something.
Love is the center of my being; and something that I want everyone to feel. Because, if everyone can feel how I feel when I give love, they will want to share that feeling with everyone too. Love is God and God is Love. What greater love is there than that? It was his greatest commandment.
The best line I ever read, was written by my 6-year-old Granddaughter when she was 5. She said to her Mommy, “I love love; because love just feels so good”.

And that's saying a lot.

The Man with The Sign

I saw a man holding a sign
It was so truthfully written
His clothes and his eyes told the story
From addiction, he had been bitten.

Many drove by yelling at him
to get a job and more
Some said aloud, "Don't give him money
for alcohol or drugs, he'd use it for".

My heart started to pound quickly
My eyes filled with tears
Because the man who stood on the corner
did not deserve those leers.

He did not just wake up one day
wanting this for his life
Something devastating caused his pain
perhaps he had lost his wife.

The truthfulness of the sign he held
caused me to reach into my purse
as I watched the man's body shake
I knew from experience this curse.

That fix he desperately needed
The withdrawals were taking him over
If he suddenly stopped this poisonous vice
he may not have had a chance to recover.

I pray that he finally got the help
he so desperately needed
He didn't need my judgment
but the understanding of what he pleaded.

I read the sign he held up in the air
and the honesty written in ink
"I don't need money for food
I need a drink".

As I handed him what I had
He looked down at me with a nod
He knew I knew what he was going through
as I prayed to God.

"Thank you, God, for your precious love
You helped me when others judged me
Give this man a sign from you
that he too deserves to be free".

So never judge what you don't know
of what someone may be going through
because life can change in a moment
Show them the same grace, that someone has shown you.

With You

With you, I can't catch my breath
for in our world, you make life exciting
Love is to be so strong that it can't break,
so love me with everything in your heart
You will never have to search for a mirage
I am alive and real, standing next to you
In the morning I wake up with you like the sun
filled with hope in the day ahead of us
Thoughts of you make my heart race
because you've put your all into us
Our love has been shaped into something
more beautiful than we could ever have imagined
and no eclipse of darkness will ever pass between us.

God Do You Cry Too

Today while trying to make sense of it all
When I look around and see so much evil
When what was created so perfectly
has become so wrong, I wonder
Does God cry?

When I read He made me in his likeness
and He tells me clearly through his word
that there is no other love greater than His
I think of how sensitive he has made my heart
and I can't help but ask... "God, do you cry too?"

And when I see a child who has been abused
And you have called them our greatest treasures
Do you take vengeance on such evil?
"God! How do you cope, when you see their tears?"
Tell me! Do you cry too?"

I think He must. Because the One who taught me
how to love; Who taught me about faith; Who commanded me to love one another must have a heart as sensitive as mine...
and I think, "God, I believe you cry and grieve just like me."
"Because no other could care as deeply as You do."
"You count every tear I cry... But Lord, who counts your?"
