Kelis

she was only 5 years old when the lord took her soul.
seeing her in that casket as pretty as gold.
my eyes began to water as hers went dry,
thinking hard in my mind why did she have to die
memories of us playing together came back more and more,
but all the fun stopped when she reached that hospital door.
the whole family missed her and loved her so much
but never again will we feel that gentle touch
rest in peace kelis for with God you are today.
we will never forget you, but in our hearts you will stay.

My New Resting Place

Now that im up off the floor, my legs they feel so funny
No more hustling for me because my aunt provides the money
No more of that floor , the bed is where lay
I'll try my best to do good because the bed is where I'll stay
its been a long time coming from that floor to this bed .
its a good thing that I decided to leave because i could have ended up dead

Wings

oh why , oh why can't caterpillars fly?
for within them theres a butterfly.
why if I could fly and achieve so high,
for my future would change from imprisonment or meet death and die.
so as I ask the question , oh why cant caterpillars fly?
why if it was I , id really try because in a few months my wings will arrive.

From the Floor Up

as i get up off the floor
im reaching for the front door
off to school im rady to go , without breakfast but no one knows
maybe i should skip school and get on the morning hustle , just for a dollar to get some food
because im waking up off the floor hungry ,cold ,and body sore , but one day i will leave that
