There

There

When you took your very first breath of air,
I was right beside mommy, you know I was there.
When you started moving and going everywhere,
I was always behind you, you know I was there.
When you started talking, I must declare,
It was so precious, you know I was there.
And in all the times when you would scare,
I'd guide and protect you, you know I was there.
Whenever you feel that your life is unfair,
You can come see me, you know I'll be there.
If you ever have problems, rest assured that I care
Just give me a call and you know I'll be there.
The world is so crazy, you've got to beware,
Be wise in your choices, stay always aware.
If ever you find yourself in despair,
And I am no longer physically there.
Remember me in your heart, and say a prayer,
And worry not, for this I swear,
I will always and forever be there.

Fatherhood

Fatherhood

Becoming a father, don't take it for granted
It's very important, this seed you have planted

Will take on new life, and a soul of its own
Everyone knows, you must reap what you've sewn

The Lord has a part, in creating this life
You'll answer to him, when you enter the light

He places upon you, a very large weight
To fail him now, the consequence great

The rewards are greater, far from mild
He relies on you, to guide this child

Teach moral and value and always to seek him
For if they do not, their future may be grim

Such an honor it is, God gave you this duty
For when done right, there will be so much beauty

The seed you have sewn, you will see come to bloom
You'll be able to notice, from across the room

The fruits of your labor, oh how they glow
They grow up so fast, so soon you will know

How it was worth, the sacrifice
Enough that you would do it twice

Don't ever act like, your child is a bother
God doesn't view that, as being a father

Be patient and strong, and also forgiving
So the bond that you share, will be ever living

Then you will know, you've done as you should
If you trust God to guide you, through fatherhood
