A day in HER life

At dawn, she wakes, the sun gently whispers, A new day unfolds, full of hopes and blisters. A Nigerian girl, dreams so bright, In the labyrinth of life, she's ready to fight.

SSCE and JAMB, hurdles she faced, GCE now awaits, her journey's not erased. Admission letter, a promise of tomorrow, Yet in her heart, lingers silent sorrow.

Her father’s voice, a constant refrain, “You’re not reading,” words like rain. They sting her heart, yet leave no scar, For she reads in shadows, away from the bar.

Brilliant, she is, in ways unseen, In the quiet corners, she chases her dream. Books in her lap, when the world’s asleep, Knowledge she sows, in silence so deep.

Her brilliance, a beacon, shining so true, Though often unnoticed, by more than a few. For those who watch with careful eye, See her spirit soar, touch the sky.

She navigates through doubt, through fear, With each page turned, her path grows clear. A tale of resilience, of silent might, A Nigerian girl, in her own right.

Through trials and triumphs, she finds her way, In the dance of life, she holds sway. A day in her life, a chapter so profound, In her silent struggle, her victory found.

The GIRL Child: A Gender or A Victim

She walks with caution, her gaze cast low,
In a world where danger lurks, where can she go?
Her body, a battlefield not of her design,
Her dreams shattered, her innocence confined.

Must she live her life in silent dread?
Is freedom a right, or a luxury instead?
Her soul cries out beneath the weight,
Of abuse, of fear, of a cruel fate.

Bruised but unbroken, she yearns to be free,
To live without fear, as human as he.
Not a shadow, not an object, not prey—
But a child with the right to her own way.

What will it take for the world to see,
The girl child as more than her misery?
She bleeds, she breathes, she dreams, she feels,
Her humanity silenced, her freedom appeals.

No, she is not a victim by choice,
She has strength, she has a voice.
Let her rise, let her soar, let her be,
For the girl child is human—just like you, just like me.

Dreams of possibility

Someone, tell this woman that it's okay to dream, to envision a life beyond what it seems. In her hands, she holds the key to worlds of possibility, of what could be. She reads, she learns, she dares to hope. With every story, she finds her scope. Books are her wings, lifting her high.

For today, a reader; tomorrow, she'll fly. But tell her it's not just about dreaming; it's working towards that gleam. Whisper to her softly: "Today, a reader; tomorrow, a leader." This isn't just a theme. Let her know that, despite how tough it may seem, the future is bright, secured by her dreams.

Every challenge faced, every mountain climbed, is just a step closer to the goals she's aligned with. With perseverance and heart, she'll find her way. For the future is hers, come what may.

The snares of addiction

Ohhhhh, addiction, a cage, A cage that not only ensnares the body but the soul. Ohhhh, addiction, the cankerworm, That gnaws through the roots of success.

"Just one more," it whispers, "This game is nice..." And it lures you deeper, Feeding thoughts of endless indulgence, Urging you to continue that addictive behavior.

Ohhhh, youths, ohhh, children, flee! This thing, or should I say, spirit, Is a storm, a relentless storm, A tempest that will consume your youth, Overtake your destiny if it is not destroyed.

They ask, "How do we destroy it?" Is this a rhetorical question, Or can it actually be answered? That, my dear youths, is left for you to decide, To find the strength within, to break free.

For addiction is a shadow, A shadow that clings to the spirit, Whispering lies, sowing seeds of doubt, But within you lies the power, The power to rise above, to conquer the darkness.

So, stand tall, stand strong, In the face of this storm, For today, you are a warrior, Armed with the knowledge, That tomorrow, you can be free.
