Sarah Leonard Poem
You won't find more
Of my love at
The bottom of
That glass.
For it exists
When it's full, and
Still when it's
Empty.
Tries hold
My hopes.
Cans fill
My bottled
Up expectations.
The line we walk
Is narrow and stumbling,
But you always will walk
Straight into my heart.

Sarah Leonard Poem
Before you
I drifted at sea.
Always afloat,
Never anchored.
So is the life
a sailors'
Or pirates'
Wife.
When the tide went out
It left me behind,
But you were there
To sweep me
Off my feet.
The day you got caught
In the undertow
I too started
To sink below,
Cursed to ebb and flow
Eternally as the tides.
But anchored to you, I see
It was merely a rip current,
Anomalistic strong forces
That if you swim against
Only pull you farther.
And if we swim alongside,
We might make it back
As one.
