Words cutting deep

Sometimes I wonder
If I’m living a lie
I sit back in silence
As each day passes by
I ponder every word you release
Most of your words
Are words that cut deep
I’ve learned over time
Not to hold what you say
I let them go easy
So they don’t penetrate
Sick of your ego
Fed up with your pride
It marks up your character
Makes you ugly inside
There once was a time
When I held you so high
You were golden before
To your flaws I was blind
Slowly you showed me
The thoughts in your head
They gained full control
As you lie in our bed
What a shame to see
A good heart waste away
Unrestrained actions
Weakness portrayed
I stand up and fight
Against hate you release
Guarding my heart
From words that cut deep
They are words from a darkness
Seeking lost souls
Consuming the light
That each of us holds
Those who are weak
Should be led by the strong
Knowledge brings wisdom
Like proverbs and psalms
Always remember
to be careful with speech
Let these words penetrate
Teach those who are weak
Choose your words wisely
And one day you’ll see
Caring words are much better
Than words that cut deep

Life choices

This is is the day
Where push comes to shove
To get what I want
I must rise above
Ignore all the people
Saying this saying that
I’ll use what you said
For this motivational rap
You think you’re one up
You can’t see your own flaws
Narsassistic tendacies
Will soon cause you to fall
When I get discouraged
And life’s beating me down
I find peace and tranquility
Writing words that rhyme down
The flow like a melody
Some bitter some sweet
And after they’re written
I feel refreshed and at peace
Like a therapy session
My words seek to heal
Penetrating the mind
Of those we hold dear
The strength of a man
Isn’t found physically
It comes from within
His own ability to see
To see beyond pain
Beyond ugliness and lies
To see his core person
The one built by design
Call upon the creator
when all hope has evaded
Return to His words
claim the promises that are stated
You’ll find peace in His presence
And truth in his words
You’ll trump all life’s problems
As each one occurs
Clean out all the garbage
Accumulated and stored
It flaws up your character
You’ll be worse than before
Let go of the grip
You have on your heart
Find your own way
Or remain in the dark
