Words cutting deep
Sometimes I wonder
If I’m living a lie
I sit back in silence
As each day passes by
I ponder every word you release
Most of your words
Are words that cut deep
I’ve learned over time
Not to hold what you say
I let them go easy
So they don’t penetrate
Sick of your ego
Fed up with your pride
It marks up your character
Makes you ugly inside
There once was a time
When I held you so high
You were golden before
To your flaws I was blind
Slowly you showed me
The thoughts in your head
They gained full control
As you lie in our bed
What a shame to see
A good heart waste away
Unrestrained actions
Weakness portrayed
I stand up and fight
Against hate you release
Guarding my heart
From words that cut deep
They are words from a darkness
Seeking lost souls
Consuming the light
That each of us holds
Those who are weak
Should be led by the strong
Knowledge brings wisdom
Like proverbs and psalms
Always remember
to be careful with speech
Let these words penetrate
Teach those who are weak
Choose your words wisely
And one day you’ll see
Caring words are much better
Than words that cut deep
