My roomate is a gone girl

Room 309
A room full of love and has always been.
You see all those songs that make us dance like we’re mad
Yeah, the ones that make us sweat when dancing to them.
That’s in the past, we’re no longer listen to those.
Lately we sway our waists along with our feet
Lately we’re listening to the songs giving new love vibes
If you know Zara Larsson’s song “I can’t fall in love without you”

We’re now listen to praise songs and pray
To show gratitude for the people God gives us
My roommate has now become a gone girl
You all should see how she smiles at her phone
For this love, she really did strive.

We’re no longer sleep; we sit still and sip wine
Listening to all her love stories with smiles in between,
she’s all happily in love like she had never been sad.
Her new lover is treating her like a gem,
I love that for her, unlike some foes.
She says he makes her complete,
even though they’re from different tribes.
After being hurt, this is her breakthrough.

His name begins with the letter after A.
With him by her side, there’s no need to cause a fuss,
because he promised her, he’ll stay and won’t whirl.
When she’s busy with her phone, I feel like I am alone,
though she’s there but drowning in the emotions of love.

Caught me off-guard

Your eyes prevent me from thinking a lot,
yet let you prey on my mind.
Cannot really describe the happiness they plot
Because in my mind, there is a lot to find.

They always find their way to my heart
Funny how they never deceive my sight.

Your prestige is presumptuous
which makes me more scrumptious.
It does not allow me to scream out your name,
but prevails me to continuously stare at you
In your absence nothing is the same,
yet in your presence I do not know what to do.

Prestige-good reputation
Presumptuous- too bold or confident
Scrumptious-careful

Loving is a cherem

I did tell you before
About all the things that made me cry
and made my heart sore.
I remember begging you to never lie
as lies had torn me apart in the past.
Your assurance seemed so true
I just never knew it wouldn’t last.
and you never gave out any clue.
Or maybe because I betrayed myself
and chose to believe you.
Just like a new book pilled on a shelf
I allowed you to use me, too.
You enjoyed turning me all over
Forgetting how relieved I was when you took me
and swore to give a hand only to give me a cold shoulder.

Your “I love you” texts made me feel appreciated
Little did I know, I wasn’t the only one receiving them.
When I was smiling over your text
Someone else was smiling for them also.
I’ve seen people go through this ‘falso’.
I did not think I was next.
That’s funny right? Now everything’s complicated,
I should’ve know that loving is a cherem.

Cherem- something given over to the lord or under a ban
Falso- Spanish word translating to false or fake in English.

FEAR OF LOVE

Should not we be scared
of falling into each other’s arms because of love.
I am failing to disable this thought I have,
and it keeps on replaying in my head.
What will be of us when all is in the past.
What will we do when we both lose trust.
When all these emotions are dead
When we now become impaired,
Forgetting that we once cared,
And lose all we had already prepared.

Love and all that we once shared
Destroyed and cannot be repaired.
When we forget how it used to be before.
Battling with our hearts which remain sore,
having nothing left to explore.
When it is no longer worth fighting for.
Forgetting that it was once perfect,
as we would now be battling with the effect.

Just know that

When you get time, please read through this.
And when you do, just know that I wrote it with love and bliss.
With my eyes teary as you are the one I always miss
My lips mapped by lines, missing your kiss.

When you finish reading the first stanza of this poem
Just know that loving you has now become a custom,
One I forever wish to keep and never skim.
As it keeps on bubbling everyday like a foam.

If it happens that you continue to the next one,
Just know that I am not done.
Sometimes I still wonder what had you, drawn.
Was it for love or rather for fun?

Even with that question in mind, I still
Allow myself to feel.
The love you give out on your own will.
Hoping that it will last until…...

Until we both feel that it is over, even so.
Just that know that I did love you though.
That is the one thing you should always know.
Even on another afterglow.

The power of love

I always felt empty and as nothing before.
I always filled my heart with reasons to abhor.
I taught myself hate, nothing less nor more.
I knew less about love, therefore,
I’d spend days downpouring tears laying on the floor,
Starring at the roof till my eyes would become sore.
I’d listen to the melody of knocks at my door.
My brain knew nothing besides being hardcore.
My eyes, my heart, my brain, all these four,
were filled with hate like they were getting paid for
Till you came knocking at my door
And now I spend more time at the bookstore,
as I no longer feel empty anymore.

Funny how you help me overcome my pride.
I’ve become addicted to how we have allied,
how you hold my hand when I’m terrified,
how you have taught me to subside,
how I tend to feel free when you are by my side.
Hence, to you, I now confide.

You’re like the star when I’m in my darkest spot.
Yet you’re my darkest spot when the sun’s too hot.
You managed to fill my heart with love instead of fraught.
With you I have won a jackpot.
Hence when I am alone, I refer to you as a hotshot.
I know I am reckless but with you I did forethought.

So please try to understand where I come from
Please love me when I am angry and when I’m calm.
Try not to be the cause of my sadness,
If not, you’ll be pushing me back to cold-heartedness.
Unlike my brain,
My heart will never be happy to be there again,
Because of the previous pain.

AFRAID TO FALL

You do not understand
	It’s more than loving you
I am feeling attached to you
Day by day, I am falling in love
With you only and nobody else
	But then, I am afraid
	Of falling too deep
	What if I get hurt?
Will you be the reason I am hurt?
Or will your love be there to heal me.

My anti racism manifesto

To say this metabolises my heart.
Luckily, I still have my brain and my sight,
to rectify and do what is right.
How did we get here, from apartheid to this violence?
What kills us the most is the silence
Of keeping such shame for the audience,
waiting for change yet drained by patience.
Is it worth it?
Being kicked and hit?
Being killed bit by bit?
OH, the intended pain,
Suffering from all the strain
Which affects even the brain.

Is this the end of the world?
Is there nothing to be said,
About the souls who are forever sad
Because of violence and nothing more
What about their hearts which are forever sore?
Why are we turning a blind eye?
To let others die.

Is this the way we want our children to live?
Is this what we want them to believe?
If so, then world has come to an end
Racism, a pandemic spreading quick with no cure
All the pain and struggle some people endure,
we ask angels, the Lord, to send.
Why does the world care less?
Maybe because we’re all covered by one dress
A dress of shame, OH my dear Lord!
This world is so flawed.

What are we doing to your people?
Pushing each other over a steep hill.
Our hearts are covered in sin
people are stranded because of all they have seen.
We treat each other like animals.
What a prejudice
We have let race rip us apart,
divide us and forced others to depart.
We exchange words sharper than blades
Such words responsible for many deaths

I feel tears ready to come out
Yet my heart is attacked by drought.
What have we turned out to be?
People practising prejudice,
Ill-treating each other, causing a fuss?
If so, this world will never be free.
that is not who we are, not today or any day
Let the world start afresh, in a different way
Let equity own the world not racism
Let us not be part of fascism
Let race combine and not separate
Let love to own our hearts not hate
Let us all laugh instead of frowning
Let us fix the world and quit ruining.

Far end

A lot have their eyes fixed at a far end
Holding on tight but only with one hand
Imagining things that only few could understand.
The brain is twisted like a rope into believing
and it believes as in days of living
Through all there is a chance of surviving.

The main reason behind taking a risk
Is caused by how breathtaking our minds get brisk
brisk enough to overlook and fix.
It controls, fights and sometime ostentatious,
it can be fair at the same time devious
not once but the process is continuous
and carries on being acrimonious.
In all, the door is to find a way to manipulate it
not all at once but bit by bit.
Because like the heart it is brittle
and strikes, it does not at all tickle
Tickle you to let you know what you have done wrong
And it continues like that for long
Until one gathers strength for that spell
Probably after the far end, all gets well.

Questions

You know, I have been thinking of calling
but I am afraid you will not pick up.
Maybe you will be relaxing in the bathtub,
Or in your room and just lolling.
Wait, are you stalling?
If so notify me so I can also take a nap.
Should I keep on trying to close this gap,
Or should I wait for you to come back crawling.

Are you happy this way?
Or you are just pretending to be strong.
You carry on, but that is something I will not do.
Seems like there is nothing you wish to say.
Or you have been pretending all along?
Just so you can leave after I fell for you.
