John Crompton Poem
How is this free verse poem.
Perfumef handkerchifs
Hiding thete smells
SEND THEM TO THE WORKHOUSE THEY ARE SPOILING MY MEAL
Urchins and vagabonds
Scavaging for food
SEND THEM TO THE WORKHOUSE THEY ARE SPOILING MY MEAL
The starving scrambling
Food from the bins
SEND THEM TO THE WORKHOUSE THEY ARE SPOILING MY MEAL
Pickpockets stealing
Stealing my bread
SEND THEM TO THE GALLOWS THEY ARE SPOILING MY MEAL
Christmas is coming
Give them some gruel
THE WORKHOUSE IS WAITING THE GALLOWS CAN WAIT
The sweep boy is crying
The chimney neefs sweeping
WHIP HIM AND BEAT HIM THE CHIMNEY NEEDS SWEEPING
Chestnuts roasting
Carol singers caroling
MERRY CHRISTMAS URCHINS AND ALL

John Crompton Poem
Victorian Gift
Thank us for the gift we give
The steam train running the rails
All it cost is a piece of coal, and the smoke we give to the air
Thank us for the gift we give
The steam ship ruling the waves of blue
All it cost is a piece of coal, and the smoke we give to the air
Thank us for the gift we give
The industrial revolution running on the steam we give
All it cost is a piece of coal, and the smoke we give to the air
Thank us for the gift we give
Street lighting
All it cost is a piece of coal, and the smoke we give to the air
Thank us for the gift we give
Warm winter homes
All it cost is a piece of coal, and the smoke we give to the air
Thank us for the gift we give
The rising seas and global warming
All it cost is a piece of coal, and the smoke we give to the air

John Crompton Poem
The Sea
A sea of Blue with ripples of golden sunshine.
Laps upon a burnished shore
Seaweed of deepest olive, waves amongst its tender ripples
Seagulls bobbing, Sandpipers scurrying
A friendly breeze, carries there calls
The Sea that laps upon our shores
Is the sea that laps within our souls
The wave that laps around the world
Wraps around us all

John Crompton Poem
Santa's Sleigh
A silent Moonbeam slides across the sky
Like Santa's Sleigh up-in the sky
Snowflake's softly fall upon your roof
Like Santa's Sleigh softly resting
Snowmen smiling, there eye's are glistening
Watching Santa silently entering
A sack of present's upon his back
Wrapped with love, bows and ribbons
Left below your Christmas tree
Mince pie eaten, Carrots are missing
Rudolph's eating, his nose all glowing
Sleigh bells ringing
Santa's Sleigh up-in the sky
Riding the Moonbeam across the sky

John Crompton Poem
The Gardener Love
The roots so deep, slowly grow
With tender care
There beauty grows
From barren ground, they slowly show
The kiss of sunshine, warms there soul
The gentle touch of summer rain, feeds them all
Remove the weed, and let them bloom
From a little seed a rose will grow
Tall and sleek
With spear like leaves, and purple trumpets
Stands the proud Gladiola
A heart shaped leaf. And a face of colour
Calling out
I may be small but remember me
I surround them all

John Crompton Poem
The Photograph
A crease, a blemish
runs across it all
Black and White
No colour then
A Mother embraces her child
The word mom scratched in with love
MOM!
Who’s mom, not mine
A grandmother to be, and a mother to be
My mom, my grandmother
Brothers and Sisters
Thank you both
For the life you gave us
Each breath we take
First came from you
We thank you mom
We thank you gran, for the life you gave
You may be gone
But the love you gave lives on

John Crompton Poem
Midnight
I’m on the dark side of midnight
Looking down on you
I see the tears in your eyes
And the pain in your soul
Live my Love live
Until we are both on the dark side of Midnight

John Crompton Poem
A Rose is a smile
A Rose is a smile spreading through life
From garden to heart
A velvety scent upon your life
Drifting around us
A sweet floral delight in your life
The sweet Briar rose
A foliage so fragrant smiling at life
Rustic charms of rosy hues
A gentle bloom a summers gift to life
Its Thorney grip climbing the heights
A gardeners dream singing at life
A rose is a smile spreading through life

The Washing Line
Sit in a chair and watch the washing line
You see the world hanging there
Egyptian cotton
Chinese silks
Waving amongst your underwear

John Crompton Poem
Memories
I remember the coal fire
Crackling and flickering
Toasting bread as well as feet
I remember the steam Train
Huffing and puffing
Steam and smoke engulfing us all
I remember music, the Mersey beat
Beatles and The yellow submarine
Hipsters and Bell-bottoms
I remember it all
Memories of Music
Memories of fun
Memories of Life now long gone
